Hog Wally Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 She came up fast and back down fast. We needed this flood for channel flush. Maybe walleye will swim up
moguy1973 Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 It's amazing what a couple days of heavy rain can do. Drove across it Monday and it barely had any water in it at Valley Park...Half way up the train trestle pilings today... -- JimIf people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles. -- Doug Larson

Al Agnew Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 Unfortunately, small episodes of high water like this sometimes do more harm than good. The river gets just high enough that the current is strong enough to move gravel, but not strong enough to scour out pools and holes around obstructions, so the overall effect is to move gravel into the pools. You need a big flood now and then to blow gravel out of the pools and re-pile it up on the gravel bars. On the other hand, it was a fairly warm rain, and got the rivers up enough to encourage the fish to move around, so they should now be spread out and into spawning and summering areas.
ColdWaterFshr Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 Drove over Bourbeuse yesterday on i-44 at Union. The field on the south side is almost completely flooded.
Mitch f Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 I fished yesterday on the upper Meramec, it was fishable but murky. "Honor is a man's gift to himself" Rob Roy McGregor
Hog Wally Posted April 7, 2014 Author Posted April 7, 2014 It looks like some gravel has moved! Be careful first trip out.
