Wayne SW/MO Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 The experts today say that you should pack morels in a net bag and shake it well in the area where you pick them. According to them they need to inoculate the soil, which they do naturally if they stay in place. This, they say is accomplished by the shaking and the later jostling from being carried. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
ness Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 I've always heard that, Wayne. I've also heard it doesn't matter because the spores disperse soon after they pop. I'm of the opinion it can't hurt, so I use a mesh bag. I'm gonna get out this weekend and hunt some more. We got rain, but it's been cool. Had a frost this morning. John
