I'm in lazy mode, or else I'm getting old. Maybe both.

Did not float until 830 or so Saturday, did not fish until 1130 or so. Fished until 315.

Met some nice fishermen from Nebraska, who can actually park boats and trailers. One of them already uses the "rig that shall not be named", another just headed out with some this morning.

They must have huge parking lots with no trees up there. Goodness. They have boats and trailers every which way but upside down at the resort. Might be something to work on. I backed mine between two trees and Leon's pontoon boat for cover.

Anyway...not much was different until the wind got up. Had 2 keepers on the little rig, behind boats that had already caught several of the same, including our very own motoman.

With the wind, and with the fish pummeled by a horde of tiny worms, I picked up the big worm and 3/8oz shakey head, and filled out a limit pretty quickly including a couple of 3# fish. They were just out a bit more, maybe 20'. Think it was kind of a mix of spots just coming up (pale) and fish pushed out by the sun and boats. Big worm was a full zinkerz in green pumpkin red flake.

Catching a lot of blacks that have rubbed. Not really so on the brownies or K's yet. Couple of blacks looked like they have dropped eggs as well.

OMG! was the lid to your livewell open? Was a "keeper" actually kept? From Table Rock? Say it ain't so. The fishery might collapse.

She took about a fifteen minute ride. Was just too windy where I caught her to snap a pic. Would have blown me clear to Baxter. No doubt she is under Leon's dock.

You said it about the boat and trailer fiasco from those boys Dave. The only close spot to our cabin left my truck and boat shoehorned at a less than pleasant angle for our early morning departure. Not to mention the adventure you watched unfold with me and the guy who left about 2" between a tree, and his truck, for me to pull my trailer out.........sheesh!

-

But I digress...........like Dave said, we missed quite a few fish yesterday, no one to blame but ourselves, but you scooped 'em up for us!.:-P........And we really should have upsized in that wind. We got the 'out deeper' part kinda correct, but that was only part of the equation. But, I'm sure Dave is tired of me saying, I'm having trouble slowing down; and making the right decisions on the water. But, Certainly spending more time on the water learning, and not just practicing for tourneys is in my future. Tough to really learn when tourney pressure and the clock looming.

And thanks for the bbq dinner invite Dave; that was some deeeelicous stuff. And great company. I look forward to doing it again soon.

Keep those great reports coming. No fishing for a few days for me. Gotta teach the little ones here at home the three 'R's.......Readin', aRithmatic.......and wRastlin'!:-P

Also fished Saturday around KC on Saturday. Got out about 8:30AM, was still overcast and there was a nice ripple on the water. First cast with the Redfin was demolished by a fat K keeper who was hanging around an underwater tree line. Caught a few more shorts on the Fin, and then went to work with the little green worm. Several short brownies on the gravel, and one 'something' that broke me off.

Hit a few more spots with the wobblehead and the blade, nothing.

Ran back to the dock for a while to help a buddy who called and was having trouble with his lift.Got that fixed, and headed back out about noon. Sun was hitting the water pretty hard and went back up in Schooner to one of my favorite spots, only to find it covered with 2 bass boats and a 3rd boat obviously crappie fishing. Wind was hitting the small point which is usually dynamite, but the point was covered!

Decided to go back in the slick water inside the point towards back of cove. 2nd cast was a.4# LM, 4th cast was a beautiful brown fish that must have been related to Shaun White or Tony Hawk? She went about 3#+ but gave me an air show I'll never forget! Unbelievable!

normally, I would have pics, but I had taken my phone out of my pocket when I was working on the lift, and left it on the dock.

They were both hanging out about 12-15' just on the drop before it hit the cove channel. Both were healthy, no eggs or red tails, which makes me think they were on the second shift?

Thought I was onto something, and then the wind shifted, and was blowing right on my spot. One bite after that, and it was done.

Water was between 63-67 and a little dingy. used a Fish Dr, gr punkin w/red flake and I dipped the tail in chartreuse dye.

headed back to finish the yard and a few other projects. Was hoping to do better, but it was still fun.

Those boys from Nebraska as used to parking their rigs wherever they want up there. What's wrong Dave, have you caught your quota and had enough? Sounds like the LM may be in all phases of the spawn, with some already done. With the K's and small jaws still coming in.

Some of the fish that would have normally been early are done. These fish will be coming in for a while.

And honestly, I am not hard up enough to catch one to go out with today's weather. It was better than it might have been, but would not want to be out (again) in the other stuff.
