I see that Bassmaster magazine has ranked Sturgeon Bay, WI as the #1 bass destination in the USA. Lots and lots of big smallies - I wonder if they've even seen the Ned? That would be a fun road trip to go up there and fish for those smallies.

Sounds like a good idea to me. I have watched too many fishing shows shot up there, that place is amazing! Count me in on the trip.

I saw an article in a fishing magazine the other day explaining the NED, so the word is getting out.

I used to fish Sturgeon bay and Green bay alot 15-20 years ago. I'm happy to see that it's still an amazing fishery. Back in the day the locals fished for walleye and salmon mainly considering the bass more of a nuisance. When you find the fish you can at times you find hundreds of them. I never met anyone up there that had a problem cathing smallies. Catching good ones was the key.

One weekend in October my wife convinced me to go to Washington Island which is off the tip of the penninsula. It's a tourist trap that you ferry to with overpriced nick nack shops and bikes to rent to tour the Island. She also convinced me that we would NOT be fishing. Back then I was a weaker man than I am now and said ok.

When we got to the pier to catch the ferry to the Island there was a Ranger bass boat with 4 guys in it fishing grubs around the pillars. For what its worth the pier and the pillars are mammoth.

6 hours later upon returning from the Island they were still there. I had to ask how they were doing. They reported over 100 fish with 10 or so over 4 lbs. All from the same location.

If you have the opportunity to go you really need to make it happen. It's such a diverse and incredible smallmouth factory it's hard to emphasize it without experiencing it.

But you do have a new coach...

True....but we are in big trouble for a while I'm afraid. He is a patch fix for a few years and makes the hometowncrowd and older alum's happy by hiring a returning MU prodigal son but he is not the answer. I see about a decade worth of struggles before we rebuild and be somewhat relevant again. Gonna be rough the next few seasons no doubt. My TV may or may not make it through Kim's tenure in Columbia. Sorry for the hijack of this thread.

Your former coach isn't doing us a lot of good down here. Just like he did at Columbia, wins every home game and loses every road game.

Anderson is a chump. His run and gun style works every so often against teams that don't properly prepare for that style of play but day in and day out you can't run you players like that (big centers and power forwards). Anderson might be better suited as a track coach I think.

Can't figure out for the life of me how he beat Kentucky twice this past season (Fayetteville and Lexington) but he did. I don't care who beats Calipari or how ... just as long as the cheating bum gets beat.
