REDSOXWSCHAMP Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 yes a tourist trap, but one the largest employers in SWMO. yes i do work there, no its not a mom-n-pop shop like it once was
REDSOXWSCHAMP Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 In my job with bps, i get the opportunity to talk with fisherman everyday, and thats one of the best things about my job
Flysmallie Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 I'm not saying they are a bad employer, I have a buddy that works there. But they aren't what they used to be and that's really sad because they could be both a tourist trap and a really good tackle shop. Hell they don't even have a decent website anymore. Â Â

motoman Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 Now that is funny right there. But at least you might get reward points. There are also too many small shops (not going to name names) where the owners/employees act like it is their job to protect government secrets when it comes to helping folks buy the right product, and telling/showing them how and where to use it. Those shops drive folks to the big retailers, instead of creating return customers. I will gladly pay a little more for the same item, if it is sold with the intent to help catch fish. - I was going to keep my mouth shut; but since we are on the topic. I love to peek in the local tackle shops when I'm down there, and stopped in OBT in Kimberling City Monday. My buddy and I were just looking around and the old man sitting at the table (guessing he runs the place?) because when a local buddy of his came in; they exchanged some crappy banter about my buddy and I(we were the only ones in the store). - I coulda made some crappy comment back about how their jig heads were virtually cleaned out in the beginning of May (really?!?!?!); but I kept my mouth shut. As the lady working was very friendly. Either way, my buddy and I both discussed how 'small-picture' minded that ole boy must be; to think just his local buddies are gonna keep him in business?!?!?! Think again.(rolling eyes) - Don't see myself wasting time going back there next visit. Not after that garbage.:-(
huntest Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 I drove over to OBT from the dam area the other day and they were closed....at least they taped a sign on the door...
