REDSOXWSCHAMP Posted May 19, 2014 Posted May 19, 2014 yes bass pro does do demo rides on spfld lake, and yes they are over the 6hp limit, but we are talking about pontoon boats with 30-40hp engines, loaded to capacity with people, the demo rides are part of a deal with the city of springfield when they have their outdoor festival.
REDSOXWSCHAMP Posted May 19, 2014 Posted May 19, 2014 If people break the law by using their big engines, write them a ticket and order them off the lake. If they do it again, revoke their privilege to use the lake. Who is gonna post up at the ramp to make sure it doesn't happen, you?
Champ188 Posted May 19, 2014 Posted May 19, 2014 No, I have better things to do with my time ... such as fishing instead of worrying about who's breaking some silly horsepower rule.
Dirtracer35 Posted May 19, 2014 Posted May 19, 2014 What next? No big motors on Stockton because kayakers use the lake. Lol c'mon now. I agree springfield lake is tiny. But why not close the lake to all except bank fishing and walking trails. Those 10+ pound largemouth are tempting though....
Lancer09 Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 I believe there's some glitter and HP envy going on here. I don't have glitter boat envy. But It's the people Who fished Big boats Who couldn't follow the rules that made it this way in the first place. Don't blame the people Who only have access to small craft that the rules are the way they are.
John Andrews Posted May 20, 2014 Author Posted May 20, 2014 No glitter envy here at all. I got a lot of money tied up in my motorcycle. Having a high dollar bass boat just never was on my want list. Hell I'd even be for allowing large engines MOUNTED ONLY on the lake. PEOPLE that are RUNNING these big motors on the lake is the ONLY problem I have, NOT the size of the CRAFT or the number of people using the lake. I catch and release only. Beyond me who would want to eat a friggin thing caught there anyway.
BATCAB27 Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 Bass pro runs their pontoons with 200 horse Verado's out there for test drives all the time.
Lancer09 Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 That's not the point. They have permission. Others don't.
aarchdale@coresleep.com Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 The city has there whitewater rescue team down there wth there 40 horse jets once a week tearing Cats asses everywhere. Until them and bass pro get banned from doing it I will uses my big 9.9 that barely runs.

If I get to the ramp and see a cop I'll just turn around and go fishing some more. Now...this thread started by someone saying they were upset by seeing someone running a 225 on the lake. So they put in at the 65 bridge and opened her up, flying by canoes and kayaks causing people to fall into the water? Because I can see being pissed about that. But, Idling past small boats and maybe opening it up out on the main lake away from everybody else, well i could care less about that. The nice gentleman that started this thread said he saw 4 lawbreakers last weekend out on the lake. And now he's on a mission. A mission to catch fishermen. Really? If you want a mission sit outside bars and call in drunk drivers, they kill people.
