Old plug Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 There is that word Hoosiers again. I have seen that word applied to everyone is a county person. You might need to redefine that to a loony or something else. Either that are give me your definition of a hoosier.
Wayne SW/MO Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 Nice speech CWF, inaccurate but probably works for many. Many years ago the NRA pushed hard for an automatic 25 year sentence added on to any conviction involving a gun. It got no where because it was too harsh, as if shooting someone or sticking a gun under their nose wasn't. The real reason for increased gun sales is that the population is on the rise, along with gangs and illegals with little to no ethics. Everyone is just figuring out that the police investigate crime, but seldom stop it. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
evilcatfish Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 A dude shows up on public land and starts ordering people around at gunpoint....and all parties are at fault? ????!!! No. That's like spreading the blame around to include all the occupants when a plane gets hijacked because they tried to attack the terrorist. All I'm saying is that if I encountered a seemingly unstable person with a gun I'm getting the hell out of dodge and calling the police, or if I felt people were trespassing and I was not in immediate danger then I would call the police.

You might need to redefine that to a loony or something else. Either that are give me your definition of a hoosier. Hoosier (hoo-zhur) n. pl. -siers. 1) a deragatory term for a slow, dim-witted breed of individual from the fine state of Indiana which in more recent times has been broadened to include an expanded geographic area, both urban and rural, throughout the midwest and Ohio valley proper, with highest concentrations being found at gunshows, and widely scattered pockets prevalent at Cardinals, Blues, Rams, Chiefs, and Royals games, Six Flags and Worlds of Fun, and associated venues that are responsible for soaking up disproportionate amounts of their discretionary income along with 60 month payments on a $20,000 ATV that they keep covered in blue tarps next to their trailer that glows and flickers at night with all manner of reality TV being piped in from the very mediacom wizards that seek to control their minds and Obamafy their soul.
SmallyWally Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 I think the bigger picture is this: The gun lobby's #1 customers these days are people just like Crocker. And there is more and more of them everyday, buying into the warped dream that they're selling, which is "protect your property, protect you and your loved ones, its your constitutional right and obligation to do so, protect your castle, and your neighbors castle, the government wants you unarmed and defenseless and they are going to steal your children" Hoosiers eat this stuff up and its why the gun industry is having record sales. That and the deep hatred for Obama and government in general. If Crocker didn't look quite so crazy, and if the circumstances were altered even slightly, that NRA LaPierre dude would've been on live national news from the Steelville courtroom steps, arguing for this guys immediate release. Thumbs down Bert. Kindness is the language the blind can see and the deaf can hear.-- Mark Twain
Wayne SW/MO Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 I see you you covered your azz CWF and didn't mention Branson. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

I dunno, man. Hoosier is a St. Louis thing. If I used the term around here I guarantee you everybody's gonna think Indiana, basketball, Gene Hackman, or the 'old picket fence'. Use that term at a Chiefs or Royals game and you're gonna get blank stares. And, I've never heard the term used in the Ozarks, except by the tourists that came down on I-44 to spread their wisdom among the unwashed. John

Old plug Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 You were generalizing it. I live in a area where you might consider people like my neighbor a Hoosier. He lives most of the time in a tiny A frame drives a old beat up chevy cary all nearly all of the time. He also owns several guns including a AR 15. He also likes his scotch but is not a drunk. Now to somebody like you that would more then likely qualify him as a Hoosier. But here is a few other things about him. Every now and then then the Seville comes out of the garage. Like recently when he closed on a Property he sold for 3/4 of a million. Usually when he not home he is out traveling places like Europe, Mexico(where he owns a condo) etc. His girlfriend is a hoosier also she grew up on the family farm and is still involved it it. But the family farm is 2500 Ac outfit. There is no such thing as a hoosier in Missouri. But there is a awful lot of country people out here that some people like to classify as dumb witted hoosiers.
jdmidwest Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 Crocker kind of reminds me of some of the folks I have run into from South County St. Louis. There is a bunch of Hoosiers there. "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson
