Mitch f Posted May 18, 2014 Posted May 18, 2014 I think the bigger picture is this: The gun lobby's #1 customers these days are people just like Crocker. And there is more and more of them everyday, buying into the warped dream that they're selling, which is "protect your property, protect you and your loved ones, its your constitutional right and obligation to do so, protect your castle, and your neighbors castle, the government wants you unarmed and defenseless and they are going to steal your children" Hoosiers eat this stuff up and its why the gun industry is having record sales. That and the deep hatred for Obama and government in general. If Crocker didn't look quite so crazy, and if the circumstances were altered even slightly, that NRA LaPierre dude would've been on live national news from the Steelville courtroom steps, arguing for this guys immediate release. I dunno man, With all the upside down way of thinking I've seen in the last few years, owning a gun to protect my family is starting to seem more right than ever. I really never owned a protection gun before, just a couple of duck guns. But I've changed my mind. "Honor is a man's gift to himself" Rob Roy McGregor

Wayne SW/MO Posted May 18, 2014 Posted May 18, 2014 I wasn't aware of a state that you couldn't own a gun. Not a handgun that you can keep close to the bed and still keep it locked away from the kids. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Old plug Posted May 18, 2014 Posted May 18, 2014 Mitch are you saying you want a CCW license to carry. Even with that there are a lot of pitfalls. You do not need one however for home protection. I bought a .38 special just for that purpose because there was few home invasions and attempt around what is known as the lakes west side. Also there is a slow response time in my area from police and Sheriff. After I bought the gun it became clear owning it and managing it for safety might be a little harder than it first appears. The only way you can really do it is to carry the gun on you at all tomes when your at home. If you leave it in a drawer in the bedroom and tour in the kitchen when they invade your never going to get to. Then again if they find it they might us it to shoot you. Then there is the thing about children around. Our .38 is currently in the bedroom locked up in a gun box because I have grandkids. If you choose CCW your sticking your neck way out and you should consult the someone in law enforcement about it. We have 2 or 3.Pepper Spray canisters around here. There is a worldwide police suppliers over there in Fenton that you can Buy them from.

jdmidwest Posted May 18, 2014 Posted May 18, 2014 I wasn't aware of a state that you couldn't own a gun. District of Columbia was one that came to mind, overthrown by the Heller decision of 2008. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gun_laws_in_the_District_of_Columbia Illinois has restrictions and bucked the CCW until last year till the courts said they have to do it. Still fighting it. California is finding all kind of ways to get rid of almost any type of gun, lead ammo, etc. Several states ban certain types of firearms, limit the capacity, or have design restrictions. MO lets you own just about any type of firearm in its unrestricted design. And of course, silencers and auto's with a special tax permit. Here is a state by state if you want it from Wiki. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gun_laws_in_the_United_States_by_state "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Okay, let me get this straight, you are upset about lead ammo being restricted and don't feel that automatic weapons should be restricted in their availability and possession? Lead ammo has been proven to be detrimental to certain waterfowl, while automatic weapons serve no purpose to the civilian. Andy
