lonkm Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 I have been off the net for awhile, so I don't know what a Ned is or a spy bait. Would someonw please educate me. My brother came down and we didn't have much luck. Wrong baits, huh!
rps Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 Ned = 1/2 Zman senko type bait on a 1/16 ounce head. caught six today including a good keeper in a little over an hour fishing.
Ham Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 Spy baits are finesse hardbaits. It is strongly suggested you fish them on very light line. Slow roll them for suspended fish. I'm getting bites EVERYTIME I fish it, but catching very few fish. Not really the deal just yet. You'd be better off throwing topwaters and dragging a tube around. lonkm Posted June 2, 2014 Author Posted June 2, 2014 Thanks Guys Now for a little more info. What is considered a finess hard bait. As you can see, I am way behind on this. Thanks Lonnie
Champ188 Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 Lonnie, the silly thing is like a sinking topwater. Seriously. It looks like a smaller version of a Devil's Horse (props on both ends) with a very realistic paint job. You let it sink to the desired depth and then slowly reel it in. I own a couple but have yet to fish them. Here's a link where you can buy some. http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Duo_Realis_Spinbait_80/descpage-DUOSPIN.html
dtrs5kprs Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 Apparently the spybaits are great for big gills, maybe less so for bass so far . Have played with them but have yet to find fish suspended in the right kind of places for them. Maybe with the shad spawn. Other good place to look for the Ned is here: http://www.in-fisherman.com/midwest-finesse/ I am pretty much guilty as charged on the little rig, If there is something specific you would like to know, feel free to ask.

Gavin Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 Similar to a slow roll, imotion, the Ned...basically old school Charlie Brewer slider fishing with new baits.
dtrs5kprs Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 So it's like slow rolling a spinner bait for suspended fish only slower and different? Kind of. Maybe more like swimming the smoke grub or a swimbait. Similar to a slow roll, imotion, the Ned...basically old school Charlie Brewer slider fishing with new baits. When swimming it yes, very similar to slider fishing. In the Ozark lakes it is often a slower presentation than swimming a slider, almost like drifting bait up north for walleye. Speeds anywhere from stop to, no really stop moving it.
