He is over the bobber and perch thing. He cast pretty well with his spinning reel but flipping out of the question at this stage. I have researched Ned rig, bought a few supplies and will be around table rock mid day Saturday. Hope to get motel and fish evening and early morning Sunday. Still trying to decide on Shell Knob or Kimberling City, available motel room may decide it for me, gonna try tonight to book. Research suggestested 1/16 oz mushroom jig, could not find at Academy or Cabelas today, not that small, all started at 1/8 oz. and bigger. I fish the Lousiana Gulf Coast couple times a year and the forumn I visit for that area is pretty raunchy and argumentative. I appreciate everyone's willingness to help and the fun you guys have.

The 1/16 is the bread and butter, but with the fish keying on craws and glued to the bottom, the 1/8 has been the go to size this year. If there were more shad, the 1/16 would whip it stupid.

Good luck. Should be a beautiful, if busy weekend. See there is some sort of Crownline boats deal in town now.

Saint Louise? Gosh I hope not. My 'que is KC burnt ends all the way.

But yes, Champ nailed it, and Bill also showed it. If you get some Ned rig parts and get on some gravel or mixed rock out to 25' or so you will do fine, as will your grandson. If you drag them around on 6# line he will think he is fishing with KVD. Super easy way to fish, and great for kids.

We did not fish hard with all the cloud watching and dock ducking today and still managed 6 keepers with quite a few shorts. All on the little rig. If you are coming to Kimberling shoot me a PM, and I can likely make some parts appear for you.

Hey now! What exactly is the matter with the STL? Although there is no comparison between KC BBQ and STL BBQ. Arthur Bryant's every time when leaving KC on I-70.

I'd much rather be in MO than KS any day. As long as it is not St Louis.

There are plenty of brown fish to keep a little one occupied around 13. Good ones and ten inchers. Might have to cast for him depending on his skills, but they are thick. Flipping would be a bit much, but I have still not seen bushes that made me get excited about the big rod and line. The bushes I saw today that had enough water in them were in water clear enough to see bottom 6' down.

Most of our fish today were on subtle changes on flat gravel, or in brushpiles on flat gravel. A few early on were around bigger docks.

What?! More insults? Dave is just mad that his little pansy Ned rigs won't work in the muddy currents of the mighty Mississippi.

Two places I hope to patronize in the hereafter... Golden Ox and Arthur Bryants...

I can't dance like I used to.

We have The Hill though...

Sometimes a man needs some 'Sketti to break up all that steak from being too boring.

Oh, and Ted Drews.

And I don't partake myself, but I hear that some liquid made down on Pestolozi Street makes a lot of people glad they dropped by..
