fishinwrench Posted June 13, 2014 Posted June 13, 2014 Looks good Jim! Always keep a good fresh battery hooked to that 235. Trying to get "one more season" out of a tired battery will smoke the voltage regulator, stator, and tach almost everytime on that system. Also be sure to completely eliminate the 12/24/Charge circuit at the bow panel (if it hasn't already been done). And just convert the TM wiring to straight 24v. The added weight of an aluminum framed deck extension isn't gonna hurt the ride of that rig one bit. If you have an old aluminum ladder laying around you can configure a perfect frame for the deck using sections cut from the ladder. Works perfect. Not much you can do to make a "truly good" rod box on the dual console F/S boats no matter what ya do, that's just something you'll have to cuss about for the duration of your relationship if you like to carry more than 5 rigged rods.
Robert Haynes Posted June 13, 2014 Posted June 13, 2014 I added to my front casting deck last year with a couple storage boxes on my 21 ft center console. It changed the ride of my boat so much that I had to put trolling batteries in rear to help take some weight off the front. That helped but it still does not ride quite as good as it did.
mixermarkb Posted June 13, 2014 Posted June 13, 2014 That ladder idea is brilliant wrench! I was just trying to get him to not build out the whole deck with wood. Going back with the seats on the rod locker and an extension back between them would be killer! Oh and don't use the front livewell! It kills the ride of the boat and kills fish!
Sac River Jim Posted June 13, 2014 Author Posted June 13, 2014 i got an old ladder i was going to throw away and for the starting battery its got a new battery but ive got another good battery that come off my step dads deck boat when he passed away it was suggested i hook them in parallel.
fishinwrench Posted June 13, 2014 Posted June 13, 2014 I wouldn't haul yet another battery around. Besides that just doubles your chances for a problem, since a bad one wired parralel will suck the good one down with it.
Sac River Jim Posted June 14, 2014 Author Posted June 14, 2014 ok thnx wrench i appreciate all the advice all you guys are giving me.
