Members rogerdodger Posted June 17, 2014 Members Posted June 17, 2014 The volume of large boat and PWC's is terrible. Thanks to big "improvements" @ Cape Fair wake board boats are now way up from pt. 15 and into Flat creek and the upper James. I went last wed. to the main lake by Indian and literally got chased off the lake. Unsupervised kids on 140hp jetski's ran across my bow to many times to count. None of them were looking anywhere but straight ahead, had I not done corrections two of them would have been speared. I thought foul weather would have slowed things down but boy was I wrong. Then you have the rental pontoon's that will swing tight to save 50 cents worth of gas and wave at you while you're being swamped. As a group of anglers we should be concerned about the situation because @ this rate it'll be unfishable in 5 yrs. Why can't the corp make the river and creek arms off limits to wake board boats and cruisers. Hell with the rollers they throw you would think the corp. would be concerned about erosion and dock damage. Until we can band together and make some political inroads the monied interests that want only continued expansion are gonna win the day. At this point my advice for a new to tablerock visitor would be to stay home...............
Champ188 Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 When it's all said and done, the fishermen are far outnumbered ... and considerably outspent at the gas stations, hotels, restaurants and bars ... by the party crowd. Money talks and we lose, especially when we're literally on the doorstep of one of the country's most popular resort towns.
Greasy B Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 @ this rate it'll be unfishable in 5 yrs. Yep His father touches the Claw in spite of Kevin's warnings and breaks two legs just as a thunderstorm tears the house apart. Kevin runs away with the Claw. He becomes captain of the Greasy Bastard, a small ship carrying rubber goods between England and Burma. Michael Palin, Terry Jones, 1974
Members ericangler Posted June 17, 2014 Members Posted June 17, 2014 thank god for bull shoals! TR is a nightmare right now.

The boats has steadily become too large for the small areas on Table Rock. The large wakes bounce back and forth in the small arms of this lake. The corps are not going to do anything to restrict boat size and how they are operated. Money is what talks and the skiers, joy riders, big boat, jet skiers, and spend more money for fuel and stall rentals than we fishermen do. So money talks...........
JohnF52 Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 Five dollar a gallon gasoline in a couple weeks will go a long way toward calming it down.
Boobie Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 Spent my first birthday on T R many years ago camping with my family at joe bald then hwy 13. Since, grew up fishing with my brothers and a close friend on the rock. Watched TR change over 50 years of my life. Now,I have a son who I would love for him to experience the wonderful days and nights fishing on once was the nicest lakes in the midwest. I have made up my mind years ago that TR would not be this place just for the reason you are talking about.Like Champ said "money" is what its all about. I have moved to another mo. lake for now.NO CONDOS,NO BARS ,NO GIANT BOATS,NO BULLCRAP. Just sunrises, water, fish, fresh air, and the memories of DAYS GONE BY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bill Babler Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 Five dollar a gallon gasoline in a couple weeks will go a long way toward calming it down. You just spent $135,000.00 for an Xboat Extreme and you think your going to be worried about gas at 5 bucks? When pigs fly. Guys lots and lots of these people are 6 figure a year folks anymore and gas prices are not going to hamper their summer lake fun. It is just getting horrible and really I have no answer Good Luck http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
rainbow Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 I gave up on LOZ a long time ago and TR is getting into that same class. My warm water choice of lake is Truman or Bull Shoals. They have not changed much over the years compared to TR. We had an 8 y.o. water ski down the main lake on the 4th of July near Theodosia and there was hardly another boat in sight. Too much commercial activity around TR to ever change the boater crowd.
