Quillback Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 After you oil it up, you can rename it the Ozark Valdez.

grizwilson Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 Need a buffer, but this guys looks much improved: http://www.bbcboards.net/bassboat-restoration/159431-basscat7s-post-fixing-gelcoat.html g “If a cluttered desk is a sign, of a cluttered mind, of what then, is an empty desk a sign?”- Albert Einstein
David Unnerstall Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 TFR, The administrator of my Chrysler Crew site sells a product called Vertglass on his site: http://www.hurrikain.com/vertglas_gel_coat_info.htm But I have never used it.
DChance Posted July 14, 2014 Posted July 14, 2014 You have oxidation. Anything you apply will make it look ok u til it dries. The only real fix for oxidation is to have it wet sanded out. You can do ot yourself bit it is pretty labor intensive. If it is really light oxidation you may be able to rid of it with some 3m rubbing compound but chances are you will meed to wet sand. Once wet sanded then you Mus be sure to protect it with something that hasUV protection. Motor oil or pledge or gun oil etc etc wont protect it from tje sun and that is how the oxidation started in tje first place.

Back when I was younger and didn't mind hanging onto a buffer for 6 to 8 hrs, this was the best way. Now depending on the quality of the finish on the boat and your talent level and tools, you can wet sand with a DA sander and make pretty quick work of it. I've made some real turds look very nice before. It's not possible for every boat, but it is possible to do. But It's not easy. Lots of sanding, buffing, polishing and waxing. Good times.
