Fish were moving a bit over the last few days with water warming. There are still some in the creeks. Think these may be resident fish, as they are very closely associated with wood in 20' or so, and have not shown any sign of moving. That is a going bite, but requires a painfully slow presentation of the little rig. Think not moving it at all. Catching quite a few blacks that way.

There are also a lot of brown fish out on main lake gravel places. Does not have to be a big point to hold fish, little points close to deep water will work fine. These fish are more or less 10'-20' deep. Wood of any kind seems to help. Lot of small fish out there, with a decent number of keepers. Best we had there was a brownie just under 19".

Seeing more shad, and more fish spitting them/working them. Still not a topwater bite though.

Gave the front of the boat to the cutest guide I've had, and caught my first keeper from my own back seat on Thursday. Was the first time I had been in a back seat since the 90's when I fished club tmts.

back seat is good. I like it now. Sit when you want, and stand up and make a little longer cast if you wish. Doesn't really matter if you catch one or not. Keep the young one catching them up front.

Thanks for the report, glad to see you're still getting them. I'm hoping to get out there for a day or two myself next week.

Weird that the TW bite is still not going, I was hoping this bit of somewhat stable weather we've had the last week would start it up.

She had a great time running the TM. Was actually trying not to catch fish in front of her. That part did not exactly work out as I ended up catching them behind her.

Think it is a clarity thing maybe. Lots of gunk floating around Kimberling, water is clear but with color, if that makes sense. Not regular TR clear, but not exactly stained.

G3 is here at the resort shooting their catalog. Couple of their guys caught some this morning on buzzbaits. Go figure.

Great report I can see work in her future. As far as the topwater deal, both Beck and I have put all out topwater baits in the road and ran the truck over them repeatedly. Now we will not have to bother throwing them.

No one misses the top water bite more than I.

That explains why he drove down to the ramp at Schooner this morning, then pulled back up the hill with the boat still dry. Must have been chucking them in the lake.

Dave. AAD and myself fished Schooner first thing this morning. Started approximately 5:15 and nothin, nada, zilch. We were throwin the fin and had a couple swipe at it but no takers. Saw minimal activity on top. You guys weren't lying when you said the tw bite was nonexistant. Found that out first hand. Last year at this time the tw bite was pretty good. Hope it picks up as the week goes on but I'm not holding my breath. We will post a full report of our day later tonight.

Funny deal on top this year. I had one of my best days on top ever the Tuesday before the Oakley big bass then I haven't found a consistent bite on top since.

I'd put it away. Those fish will eat the little plastics just fine at 5am. Another option if you see some working bait that won't chase is the old gray roadrunner.
