abkeenan Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 I wish Bo would show a picture of his Blackwidow Spinner Bait. I have caught more big fish at night on that lure than anything else I can remember. It's a concept of a detachable jig, # 7 single Colorado blade and the harness is completely different than anything you have ever seen on .032 wire and you talk about thump and watching the end of your rod dance up and down. It is definitely a big fish bait. It's really a shame this can't be shared, because it is so darned effective. The way I throw it is I let it free spool down just like I fish a jig all the way down to the bottom and then crank 8 or 10 times and get it thumping real good and then let it thump back down to the bottom. The strike will either come on the fall or they will trap it on the bottom. It stays upright at all times, as you know most lay over on their side and you get a lot of side of the mouth and lip hooking. With the jig staying up right you will hook the fish in the top of the mouth almost everytime and the pulling contest is on!! This post is useless without pics.
merc1997 Bo Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 thanks for posting the pic! there are many things about the Black Widow that are great advantages. first, is wire design. with the loose head, you get way more vibration, and that is further amplified by using .032 wire. sounds light right?? it is except that the bend design makes this spinner bait virtually indestructible. i have frames that date back to the late 80's that are still going just like new. the other great advantage about the frame is you can change out your head for a different size and color. the Black Widow can be fished through anything with very few hangups. the other thing is the hooking is going to be in the roof of the mouth every time, and this means you are going to put your hookups in the boat. as bud stated, the Black Widow is a great big bass bait. bo

The Black Widow by Nutech does exactly as you have stated. My dad made his own single spin spinnerbaits for years with a similar design and they were always big fish baits. (The lunker board at Campbell point proved that in the 70's). Bo's design is much better than those old handmade ones my dad made and its already been stated that they will almost never break or tear up. IF you are even halfway serious about catching them on a spinnerbait after dark you need a Black Widow tied on.
Champ188 Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 BassCat, I can assure you that I'm serious about catching a bass anytime I go fishing and I've caught more than my share at night on a black War Eagle. There are a lot of good spinnerbaits out there. I'm sure the Black Widow is among them. But it's not the only one.
abkeenan Posted July 3, 2014 Posted July 3, 2014 For you night fisherman.....is fluorescent mono line with a black light a must? I want the feel of fluorocarbon but I like to use a black light. Stren is the only one that currently has a fluorescent fluorocarbon but I heard that was basically garbage line. Thoughts?

I never use a black light or fluorescent line at night, just my normal fluoro and braid. I don't like having any extra lights on at night and have no problems feeling bites anyways.

Stren is the only one that currently has a fluorescent fluorocarbon but I heard that was basically garbage line. Thoughts?i know there are many that do not use a black light, but i can tell you that i catch lots of bass that i did not feel any bite, but i did see my line flick ever so slightly in the black light. i would not night fish without one, period. i use florescent braid. stren did offer its sonic braid in florescent, and i like it really well. i have now found that the spider wire glo-viz is florescent, and it does a fine job as well. bo
