holleybob Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 I finally broke the underwater camera out today to check and see what was loitering under my dock. From 10 -18 feet it was loaded with carp and what appeared to be large "red" suckers. I"m not saying a few but at least 30-40 of each with an occasional channel cat mixed in. Not a Bass, Crappie, or Bluegill even out to 35 feet.Have never seen this before in my 6 years down here. Maybe we do have a problem brewing here?? Awe.. they are just hiding from the bowfishermen
Sac River Jim Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 i was backing the trailer back in at ruark bluff last night right after dark and a bow fisherman fired up his lights at the top of the ramp and when he came wheeling around me he blinded me it and it took several minutes for my eyes to adjust back to normal. i thought it was rude and inconsiderate. i remember when the topic on that bow tournament was on here and the thing that i remember the most about it was the local residents on the lake being woke up in the middle of the night from the noise and their bedrooms being lit up like a christmas tree.. Kinda reminds me of the hauling butt down the middle of the road in a big SUV while texting syndrome. Just a total lack of consideration for other people while in their bright shiny powerful new toys.
Champ188 Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 Donna and I keep telling each other we're gonna stop being blown away daily by the lack of consideration and simple respect from others. Of course, the minute we do, some turd comes along and takes things to a new level of disregard and we are right back in head-shaking mode.

That is so true....the old saying "just when you thought you'd seen it all".......along came some guy and did this.
Sac River Jim Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 we were on a main lake point at ruark yesterday evening and a wake boat seemed like he deliberately slowed down and plowed water going past us about 250 yards out and as soon as he passed us he planed back up im not sure what was going through his mind but the wakes were so tall i had to turn the boat into them to keep from being swamped. it was rock and roll time for about a minute. Too bad i couldnt cast my spoon that far lmbo!!!! just joking
Wayne SW/MO Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 Common carp aren't invasive, they came by invitation in the 1800's. Any idea that they harm the bass fishing won't hold water because bass have increased their numbers considerably since the introduction of carp. They were stocked as a food source to supplement what was mostly a catfishery at the time. I don't have a problem with bowhunters if they have some way to utilize them, but I'm adamantly against throwing them anywhere, on the bank or in the water. MoCarp 1 Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
