I caught a nice one in Ha Ha Tonka some years back but there not even common in the spring branch. You usually have to find clear water in a feeder creek to get SM.

^ This. I've seen nice ones come from the clear waters up Ha Ha Tonka, but never out of anywhere near the main lake.

I've only ever caught one but it was in our cove at the 25 mm. Not close to one of the river arms at all. It was about 12-13". I'll try to dig up the picture tonight. Caught it on a watermelon red baby brush hog back in a pocket with some water willows growing on a chunk rock bank. It was labor day weekend I believe about 5 or 6 years ago.

Here's the pic of the one I caught at the 25 mm... After finding this photo, it looks like it was only about 10-11"...

There are, or used to be, some old pics on the wall at the Camden co. courthouse showing stringers of big smallies taken from Zora (when it was a resort) that'll make you wanna puke.

If I remember right in 1968 my mom had a trotline that stretched clear across Pine Cove. One day she ran it and had a spoonbill a flathead 2 crappie 2 Jack Salmon and a pretty nice Smallmouth.

If recollection severs me, they were all disemboweled then submerced in a black cast iron skillet that held a bubbling liquid that resembled Crisco, but was most probably Lard.

Have a good one.
