nathanhooper Posted July 16, 2014 Author Posted July 16, 2014 My map is purely off experience this time of year and there is a lot of points I would come across. Well then, I like your experience more than mine. I think I'll have to just try it. Should be pretty calm out there right now, usually is at least during the middle of the week. On the weekend I would think it near impossible unless I just wanted to go on a roller coaster boat ride. Would you say that I would come across any schools of fish going this route? Or am I more likely just to run into a few here and there? Trying to get an idea of what to be looking for on the sonar.
nathanhooper Posted July 16, 2014 Author Posted July 16, 2014 Have u ever dropped a camera and took a look by the buoy in front of water intake?.....there is some rocking horse's there, I wonder if they have been there since lake filled up or if some one put them there? I have not. I might just have to though. How deep is it there?
nathanhooper Posted July 16, 2014 Author Posted July 16, 2014 I guess I just was thinking what you meant earlier by long points were REALLY long points. But I guess, thinking about it now, a really long point would almost be considered a flat huh? I don't have live bait, but I do have some stuff in the 6" range. I'll run my two rigs at 5' or so difference and hopefully also be able to get the other two rods down close to the 30' mark.
Feathers and Fins Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 my guess would be you will get blind strikes. they are open water this time of year unless you can pin them up someplace. I really only use my graph this time of year for stripers to make sure im on track for humps and points and pay little attention to the sonar other than verify depth. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856

Used to be a school there. Don't know about the rocking horses however.

I figured they would still school up in open water. I thought it was they just moved deeper, but still kept their normal seek and eat habits following the bait around. I usually get luck with the loner here and there all through the year, but thought the majority of them stayed out west until the summer came and then they migrated this way.
Ron Burgundy Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 Used to be a school there. Don't know about the rocking horses however. They are there i saw them with my underwater camera. Gone but not forgotten Martin Ford
Ron Burgundy Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 I have not. I might just have to though. How deep is it there? Tops out about 10 ft and seems like the rocking horses are in about 30ft.....they are intake side of buoy.....I did not see the frame of a building but my son and his friend did, i did see the horses however. Feathers and Fins Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 They are in schools but your boat is moving and you are pulling bait behind you, you may go over a school but odds are your bait will get someones attention you didn't see. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
