Members Always Catching Tree Bass Posted July 20, 2014 Members Posted July 20, 2014 I've lived in Rogers a few months but haven't gone trout fishing yet (I bought a kayak shortly after moving here and have been wearing it out). I'm looking to wade out and fly fish for trout. Anyone have a spot or two that they would suggest with wade-in access? What are the favored flies here? I know that in the Little Red around Heber Springs Sow Bugs and Wooly Buggers are the go-to flies.
grizwilson Posted July 27, 2014 Posted July 27, 2014 Sow bugs and woolies are staples, zebra midge are good if water is low and clear, the san juan worm in brown, red or hot pink can be the ticket also. your kayak can be handy to get away from the crowds, below the dam fishes fair but gets lots of pressure. g “If a cluttered desk is a sign, of a cluttered mind, of what then, is an empty desk a sign?”- Albert Einstein
ollie Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 Below Beaver is always a good bet. You haven't been there yet? "you can always beat the keeper, but you can never beat the post" There are only three things in life that are certain : death, taxes, and the wind blowing at Capps Creek!

Members HunterTheAviator Posted November 5, 2014 Members Posted November 5, 2014 The Beaver Dam tailwater is where I always go. I'm not much of a fly fisherman, though, so I can't tell you anything about flies. Lake Springdale, Lake Atalanta, and various ponds are stocked with rainbows in the winter, but I never have had any luck with them. Below Beaver is a safe bet. Try Parker Bend if you want wade-in access. Let me know if you'd like to get out on your kayak with a fishing buddy. Mine's collecting dust and has been neglected for far too long.
