Jerry Rapp Posted August 8, 2014 Posted August 8, 2014 fishing in the rain barrel. Kudo's to those who "caught" them, but put and take fishing just isn't right in my opinion. I admit, I do a little winter c/r at Montauk, but trout parks are the same as going to Mexico to catch a double digit bass, much less 100 bass a day.
Members Corky 69 Posted August 8, 2014 Members Posted August 8, 2014 Hasn't all lakes, river and steams in Missouri been stocked at one point in time? The Rain Bow Trout is not native to Missouri!!!!! No different fishing at Taney, it is also stocked......

Well then just where else do u propose that we go? That rainbarrel reference, usually comes from someone who has gone, not caught anything, and said, this way to easy. If you stay away that will give me one more spot in the barrel.
fishinwrench Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 I'm not into the park atmosphere anymore, but I sure can't deny that I learned to trout fish there. Where else are you gonna get more practice hooksetting and strike detecting ? Park trout bite just like trout anywhere else....you just get WAY more opportunitys per hour to witness a take, and get him stuck. There's no better place in the world to quickly master a new technique. It's a dam shame though that at Bennett they totally hosed up a great fast rocky riffle and good tailout by installing a freakin' exhaust pipe in the middle of it so that NOW all the fish bunch up like the ones in the other hatchery outlets.
