Robert Haynes Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 I can't believe gar made 2 pages of posts.
J-Doc Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 I saw a tv show where two Cajuns made a bet. One Cajun said he would give the other Cajun a weeks supply of bait for free if the other guy did not agree that his far balls were the best fish he'd ever eaten. The bet was made and the other Cajun admitted it was the best he had ever eaten. Moral of the story here is it's all in how it was cooked. I definately don't want to deal with the prep part after trying to clean one myself. It does look like a trash fish. I bet it is good if cooked right though. Need marine repair? Send our own forum friend "fishinwrench" a message. He will treat you like family!!! I owe fishinwrench a lot of thanks. He has been a great mechanic with lots of patience!
Feathers and Fins Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 Halibut also use to be called a trash fish, and many still think of catfish as one. As to the cockroach of the sea, Always loved them but boy people freak out when they find out they are eating a bug https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
Champ188 Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 I can't believe gar made 2 pages of posts. Well, it IS the Beaver forum, Robert. People are hungry for something to talk about besides trolling. I think Quillback put it best yesterday during our trip over to Grand: "I'm just not interested in eating anything you have to clean with tin snips."
Ham Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 That's how I feel about gar, not that hungry yet. Lol. That's about how I feel. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
Robert Haynes Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 It just so happens while this topic has been going on, I have been in Prince Edward Island, New Brunswich, Nova Scotia, Deer Isalnd (Canadian island with 21 ft tide changes) and now in Maine. I have been eating the Lobster (bugs) everyday for a week. As good as it is, I have had enough and I am ready for some good old fried beaver lake fish of any kind (except gar, carp or shad).
Feathers and Fins Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 Hmmm smoked shad!!!! Aint had that in a while. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
nathanhooper Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 Robert you bring me some lobster and I'll match you pound for pound with walleye.
