That target has murder, murder, suicide written all over it.

I regret using such an unsettling image to make a point, especially since it didn't work. I wish I had used one of those embarrassingly stupid cartoon zombie attack targets instead, as it might have provided an acceptable degree of detachment to succor our more delicate flowers. It still would have reaped a sufficient amount of scorn and dismissive derision, while also failing to get the point across.

But fear not, gentlemen, for the experts have enlightened me to the fact that such a frightening scenario, as depicted, cannot possibly happen outside of Hollywood.

It is truly unfortunate those two gentlemen in Bevo Mills didn't get the memo back in June.

I dont get in on these threads but i cant resist this one. I don't care if it's a good gun for defense or hogs or whatever. If you want one get one. I can't stand the rationalizations that go on when there are gun debates. If you don't want guns move to some place where they are not allowed. Go to a gun free zone like a movie theater or college campus. I don't think that you can argue that those are the only places that someone can go in and shoot until they run out of ammo. As for me and mine I say the more guns the better.

Not as many people would own an ar if there wasn't a ban on them. Anytime there is a ban on something we think we have to have more. Look what prohibition did for alcohol.

Don't dismiss detachment so easily. I've spent exactly 0 hours and 0 minutes of my life worried about defending myself from attacks in my home, or anywhere else for that matter. Spending one's whole life worried about death just seems like such a waste.

I can't dance like I used to.

I am with you there. I never worry about an attack at the home, there are multiple layers of firearms at all times there. I sleep like a baby.

I don't sweat it anywhere else either, because I am always prepared.

And, if it is my time, death is just another stage of life. Not much you can do about it any way. We all die someday.

Sorry Charlie, there is no ban on them. Never really was, just a few price increases. Its kinda like the stock market.

Here's my thought.....

Just live your life, try not to put yourself in unnecessarily dangerous positions, and hope that you are not one of the tiny percentage of people that will ever be affected by any of the crimes ya'll are spending so much time talking about. There are so many things in the world we cannot control. At it's best, concealed carry (or whatever else we're talking about) can only account for the tiniest percentage of them. There are plenty of other things we can do that will do more to keep us safer.

Heck, many of the people with concealed carry permits for "self defense" are probably driving around without a seatbelt on. That kind of thing. We worry about things that are "scary" (like violent crime or a bear attack), while our true fears should be of things that feel much more benign (like driving to work.)

I'm not saying it's necessarily bad for some people to chose to have a firearm in case of self-defense, just that such things often give people a false sense of control.

It's also not that I don't think some sort of violent crime could happen to me. It's just that I don't tend to put myself in dangerous scenarios, and I know that statistically it's not something that's worth "being prepared" for. I'll never get into packing heat, unless I'm hunting.
