joeD Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 There are only two facts when it comes to fishing success, regardless of season, body of water, or any other parameters. 1, Whenever and wherever you go fishing, you have a chance to catch fish. 2. If you don't go fishing, you won't catch fish. Everything else is background noise.
Members cart7 Posted October 12, 2014 Members Posted October 12, 2014 I don't know about Ozark streams but lake and reservoir fishing gears up into the fall and yes, there are sometimes feeding frenzies that take place. I think that's more a matter of the fish following the food, aka shad. I'm speaking of bass here, don't have much knowledge of other species but I've caught my share of bigger bass 4-6lb range in the fall to late fall season. I will say this, finding the fish and patterning them is often a little harder in the fall vs the spring.
fishinwrench Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 One fish characteristic that I only see happen in Fall is a strict topwater bite. On days when it seems they are just completely shut down, won't touch a jig or anything else, you can start throwing a buzzbaits or a spook and absolutely tear'em up. Any other time of the year if they are active enough to bust topwater stuff then they'll also eat spinnerbaits, flukes, cranks, and just about any bait you choose to devote time to. Not so in the Fall.
