I will not disagree that it is difficult to make money fishing these, but I enjoy them and am going to try like heak. Discouraging would definately describe my day on the lake, but so goes October fishin in the ozarks. Lets all play nice and I'll see you or I won't in the mornin.
Lvn2Fish Posted October 10, 2014 Posted October 10, 2014 I've fished a lot of tournaments. Probably close to a hundred by now. I'm only 28 yrs old. I have never ever spent 500 dollars in gas and food at a local tournament. I could see it if your driving from KC or STL. Hell I went to Kentuckey lake two years ago for the regional. With food gas and lodging it set me back about 700 bucks. Not sure where you guys are getting these figures. Sure it takes you 350 bucks to fill the boat and truck with gas. But do you burn 50 gallons in a day ?

Scan the archives and you''l find a number of organizations, companies and individuals that have received the same. The fishing forum greats here have an ax to grind with most in the fishing world. Great point. The only time I ever use my boat is for tournaments, same with my rods, reels and baits. Wouldn't want to have any fun or leisure time.........

However i do know guys that only fish when its a tournament and i always think to myself, i bet that gets expensive, without practice how could they expect to win or even place unless you just got lucky
bassman1308 Posted October 11, 2014 Posted October 11, 2014 To draw larger numbers, lower entry fees, payback one place for every 4 boats. I know, not much payback BUT, the boy's who only fish tourney's for the winning's won't show up, the boys who enjoy fishing and competing will. The 'average ' guy is usually happy even if he places 7th in a 30 boat tourney while winning only $40. He can go home and tell everyone he 'placed' in a bass tourney.
