Sore Thumbs Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 Put in at Holiday Island this morning. Caught a few around the old bridge at the mouth of Leatherwood on Sk 3xd in Olive green craw and 1/2 oz jig. At the mouth of the north side of Holiday island Marina. I caught 4 or 5 on a jerkbait Ellagy Bone colored. Moving it fairly quick. Fished from there to Eagle Rock without a bite for several hours ( no wind or rain at the time). Got tired of not catching anything and took a long boat ride from ER to the Kings. Just wanted to see how far it was. Rain and wind started back around 11 and the fish started biting again. Lost my first jerk bait so I tied on a Pro Blue II. Caught a few more. Not as good of a day as I had anticipated but caught 11 total with one 3lbr. Crankbait bite was tough for me today. Water temps were 48 at HI and 53 by the Kings.
5bites Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 48?!? Goodness! Looks like I'll be making a boat ride next week from ER myself if it's gonna be this tough.
Quillback Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 That Eagle Rock to point 23 stretch has been squirrely lately. Get up near the Kings and the bite is better. Kings gets a lot of pressure, I think just about every fishy looking bank gets 3-4 boats a day stop by and fish it.
merc1997 Bo Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 that largemouth is really a nice chunk!! bo
Sore Thumbs Posted November 23, 2014 Author Posted November 23, 2014 48?!? Goodness! Looks like I'll be making a boat ride next week from ER myself if it's gonna be this tough. I know. I thought my gauge was messed up til I went down lake and back. Funny thing is. I caught more fish there. The quality was not as good.
Sore Thumbs Posted November 23, 2014 Author Posted November 23, 2014 It was very odd 5bites. Usual places to catch wiggle wart fish were no good. Points with wind using a jb was the only deal for me today.
fishingaddiction Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 Fish are just scattered all over the place. Based on other reports the sticker has been the most consistent, with the crank, blade and jig getting the rest. Nice pic of the good LM. Born to Fish. Forced to Work.
Champ188 Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 Good job, Thumbs. Was a tougher day than I thought it'd be.
5bites Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 I really thought yesterday would be a slaughter fest. I don't feel as bad about leaving the boat behind now. I'll be back from Wednesday night to Saturday evening though and ready to do work.
