Wayne SW/MO Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 Does Mizzou get in as a 2 loss SEC champ? I think that's a sticky situation. Do you automatically allow conference champons in and what conferences would qualify? I don't have the answer, but they are assuming that a 2 loss Alabama team would be better than Mizzou. Of course that's where I think it really gets sticky. Is the west really that much better than the east or the Big 12 for that matter? When they don't meet up during the season it is all assumptions. Alabama only bested West Virginia by 10 and WV is a 5 loss team, Arkansas by one, a 6 loss team, so where's the number one ranking? Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
BATCAB27 Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 I read today that if Bama loses, this particular writer believed they would still get in the final 4.
Chief Grey Bear Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 Its the truth, Unless either team is in the play-off picture they will either be in a bowl or not by this time, the odds of either being in a potential play-off picture under the current format is pretty low ( this can apply for any school ) A 6-6 team shouldn't be in a Bowl which proves that College Ball is very much about money money money. This is how it has been as long as I can remember, I seldom watch any but the big 5 bowls and typically only the NC and Sugar. I will watch Arkansas if its in a bowl but only if I am not hunting or fishing that day. Unlike regular season where I will hunt or fish in the morning to be home to watch the game in the afternoon, as many fans do. Now if they ever decide to have a true play-off be it 8 or 16 teams most people only will watch and care about watching their team one last time and don't really care if its the Construction Out-house Bowl or The "Sponsored by Septic Rooters Bowl" they will watch their team that last time. But ditch all but the big 5 bowls and make it worth something and the audience would be much higher and then all games to the end would have meaning. Under that scenario Neither Arkansas nor Mizzou would be in a playoff situation. Under a Play-off scenario it would be for the SEC Title Bama v Miss St if you look at the Rankings right now as the two best teams in the Conference would play. Then they would go on to play the Winner of say the ACC in round 1. Oh no you don't. No no no no no. You wasn't talking either team. You meant Arkansas just like you stated. You ain't hoodwinking me there mister. You didn't give Mizzou a chance this year. You thought last year was a fluke. And not the fishing kind either. I do agree with the rest of your post. And like Wayne just stated, or was eluding to, how do you fairly rank teams? I have always thought that the rankings, for lack of a better term, are rigged. To some extent. And this year pretty much proved it. The SEC is hyped in my opinion. Nobody seemed to have a problem with Georgia getting in with two losses, three by the end of the season. Even though Mizzou beat those two teams that beat Georgia. Why is that?? Guest Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 The SEC isn't overrated. All 7 of the SEC West teams are bowl eligible. As for the rankings, Mizzou got hosed. They're a top 10 team, IMO.

joeD Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 Mizzou isn't a top ten team. They got blown out at home to Georgia and lost, again at home, to a lousy Indiana team. Their "best" wins came against teams that are 7-5 and 6-6. Their ranking could be a little higher, but not top ten. A miracle win would hurt Alabama more than it would help Mizzou. They are destined for an okay bowl game.
BATCAB27 Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 top 10, top 20 blah blah blah....pretty much from 5-20 its a crap shoot. Some teams won close games and some lost em. Baylor is 6th and Auburn is 19th. Who you gna take in that game? I'd almost say Auburn would be favored but maybe Baylor -3. Boy that 16 team playoff would be cool wouldn't it.
