Wart Thief

The last time we were at the lake we had some gear in our minivan after going out with a friend in the KC area. I had a half dozen rod & reel combos and an old Shimano box (I think they were made for jerkbaits, red inside with slightly curved compartments) with 25 pre-rapala wiggle warts. All of them were good colors, some original and some custom painted,

Lily and I pulled up to the gas station directly across from Harder House to use the restroom. In the short time we were in there someone opened the back of the van and snatched the box. I guess it would have been too noticeable to grab the rods and reels at the same time.

In the city we know not to put something valuable into the trunk or back, when in plain sight of others. We weren't on our guard in Kimberling City, though.

My hope is that the thief sells the baits for maximum value and buy some kids Christmas presents or school supplies.

Lily prefers a spinnerbait and I prefer a jig anyway (just backwards of Champ & Donna). We are planning to fish again starting midweek, so hopefully we will find a few around SK.

That just sucks. I hope you reported it to the Kimberling City cops. Lord knows they need something to do besides pull people over for going 2 mph over the speed limit.

I really hate to read about that. It is a shame that we have to lock things up at all, but man to have to worry about running inside for 2 minutes.

I was hoping to read a fish story. Maybe about a big gar that grabbed it boat side or something.

Sorry for your loss. It's a shame that you have to lock your car, just to run in to a convenient store for a couple of minutes. It just shows us what our society has become, so many people have no morals or shame.

that is really terrible. it is such a shame that we have all the stealing that we do. i can remember when two of us would show up at the ramp at the same time, both going by ourselves, and one of us would get in with the other and leave one of the boats in the parking lot all day, and never have one thing bothered. should still be that way.

how many can remember not ever locking up your house?? i can.

And this couldn't have happened to a nicer guy too. Really sorry to hear this. I had my crappie box stolen right off my boat last year. I know who did it too (I'm about 90% sure) and I can't prove it or do anything about it. I probably lost $250-$300 worth of gear and some was not even open (new packages).
