So NOW you are saying that the feds were justified in gating off the national park accesses during the sequester bull$#it ?

So don't mow the grass, who cares. The boat ramps and parking lots are still gonna be usable for a long time and they are already paid for.

Plenty of hooligans on probation that can do "community service" if things like mowed grass and litter pickup are deal breakers for ya.

Tree blocking a ramp? Calm down, a hillbilly with a chainsaw will be along shortly.

I'd miss the trout a little, but not the spoonbill egg drama.

Giggers would have a heyday, but hell they already do, so.....

Yeah, I just can't get all uptight about it, mostly because I feel that nothing drastic is gonna result from this.

Some dumb stuff like this comes up every session in the MO legislature and never gets any traction.

That is what you all were saying when I kept posting about the Repubs trying to take deer away from the MDC and put them under Dept of Ag because a handful didn't want to follow the rules.

We came within 1 vote of loosing it all during the veto override.

And oddly enough you should recongize the names on these bills.

Chief beat me to the punch. One vote... next time it may pass or a bill like this one. Point is, there are people who want to drastically change how conservation is run in this state because ppl want the money.

The boat ramp issue... no one mentioned liability insurance. No insurance, no trespass. It's that simple. That and all the rest that was mentioned.

Is MDC perfect? No way. Do they squander money - yes. It's the nature of the beast - government. There are ways to change or improve it but I'd think most conservation minded people would agree cutting off a big chunk of funding would only hurt fishing and hunting interest in this state. That would include us fishermen and hunters.

This bill, eliminating permit fees, just might have possibilities. On the surface - who wouldn't be for FREE fishing and hunting (but nothing is really free). And if a bill that would take away management of deer from MDC almost pass, this bill just may. I seriously doubt if Nixon would sign it though- but you never know. He's probably looking for ways to look good right now, after Ferguson.

Eliminating permit fees is not going to put more money in the pockets of those supposedly attacking MDC.

I lack the ambition to truly study this because the way it is being presented to us reeks of false flag absurdity.

I'm surprised Dablemont isn't crowing about it. Surely he is, somewhere.

Only because they'd allow it to so that as many people as possible would feel "punished". There are some pretty useless and insanely expensive programs that could be nixed, and very few would even be bothered by it.

Fees never go away. This is a way to divert money and control away from the MDC to the legislature.

Name them. With your reasoning.

Yep, put your money where your mouth is on the insanely expensive and unnecessary programs. At least Dablemont gives you hints of chicanery and money pits in MDC, though he never seems to name names and provide documentation.

I agree with Phil and Gavin...they want the money, and it doesn't take very many votes to swing an issue like this. If they came within one vote of overriding a veto on the deer issue, there's a better chance than you think of passing these issues, especially the free permits one.

Elk, Spoonbill, Urban trout, the magazine (yeah it's cool but we all have internet now....save a tree), I'll stop now since I'm sure those alone will catch me plenty of flack :)

Access upkeep doesn't have to cost out the wazoo, look at the work our Stream Teams do for nothing (we don't even need T-shirts, we'll still be there).
