Champ188 Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 Welcome aboard, SplitG2. I don't know where people come up with the idea that I'm opinionated, fussy, cynical or just plain ol' cranky sometimes. Is it so wrong to want no one to walk away wondering what you're thinking? And abk, you leave my dadgum goat out of this! Split, do you happen to have a tournament jersey? Quillback and abkeenan 2

Champ188 Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 And for the record, my tournament Jersey consist of an old gray t-shirt, cargo shorts and flip flops. Exactly what the real pros fish in except on days they have to wear the bling. And before they had TV cameras on them all day, most of them fished every tournament day in inconspicuous clothes and only put their jersey on for weigh-in. You're gonna enjoy the site, Split. You won't agree with everything said, but you'll enjoy the ride. And don't forget to post your fishing reports. Even if it's nothing more than water temp and things/places you tried that didn't work, it helps the rest of us.

Hard to beat, though I did upgrade to some faux dri-fit shirts from the Maison de Walton last year. Makes a big difference. Champ nailed it. Take the drive up to Kimberling and get some breakfast at Ma's. Pay attention to the guys in the worn out hoodies and faded out hats when they talk about fishing.
Bass Enforcer Posted January 21, 2015 Author Posted January 21, 2015 Scott, Glad you joined on. We have a place just outside of Beardsley so when I saw your post and the warm welcome from others I decided to register myself. Fall hunting and kids sports keep us from going down year round, so my experience is limited to the seasonal pattern I get to fish. I don't catch a lot of quality fish in Beardsley, but do just outside of the mouth on the main lake and secondary points near the channel. Lot's of guys fish the island, but I haven't had much luck there either. I do well with the usual, PB&J finesse jigs, drop shots and shaky heads...and now after crawling out from underneath a rock and reading this board, will be using the Ned Rig. Night fishing in the summer can be incredible. I had boat problems one night last summer which kept me confined to a few local docks and caught 6 fish in an hour. 1 Spot and 5 Large Mouths. The last 2 were back to back casts and pushed 7lbs each, within the cables! A memorable night for sure. Thanks all for your insight. I'll try to stay active and provide relevant info as I can.

Bass Enforcer Posted January 21, 2015 Author Posted January 21, 2015 Hey "splitg2" like the name. You must be a deer hunter also. I'm really liking this end of the lake so far. We are in leisure shores area. I don't know if you read my last post but I went over this past weekend and had an outstanding time. Good luck to you with fishing. Give me a shout if you are going to be out and about. It may be nice to pick someone else's brain. 314 808 0438.
SplitG2 Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 Enforcer, Just read your other report. Congrats and thanks for sharing. I'll look you up when I get a chance to get back down there.
