Members AFBuer Posted January 9, 2015 Members Posted January 9, 2015 I'm in the market for a new 6'6" jerkbait rod. I'm looking for something in the 150 area? Any suggestions? I would also like to use it as a topwater rod.
moguy1973 Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 Falcon Jason Christie Signature Series. I should have bought one of these this past weekend at a fishing show I went to since they were $79 on sale at the show. They are on sale at Tacklewarehouse right now for $99. Felt like a great rod. It's 6'8" but what's 2". http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Falcon_Jason_Christie_Signature_Series_Casting_Rods/descpage-FJC.html -- JimIf people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles. -- Doug Larson
Brian Jones Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 I use Bass Pro's XPS rod in a medium action for throwing jerkbaits and would recommend it to anyone. Have also used it for topwaters as well.
Riverwhy Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 I find choosing a rod to be the most difficult part of getting your fishing gear together. I can tell you all kinds of reel specs, pick out quality line, and talk about lure choices all day. However, my weakness is picking out the correct rod. I'm afraid I end up using a $200 reel with great line and a proper lure and match that up with a low to medium quality rod just because I can't figure out the best rod for multi species fishing. So, good question and I hope someone will share what we need to be looking for in a great rod. (For me that means $100 or less).
Seth Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 13 Fishing Omen Black 6'7" medium. It will run you around $100. If you have bear paws for hands, you may not like it. Folks with large hands tend to not favor the 13 fishing grips because they are too thin for their taste. AFBuer 1
TRRANGER Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 TFO med light 7' they make a 6' 6" as well. These baitcasters are fast tips and has backbone and will sling a light jerkbait a mile. $100.00
Riverwhy Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 Not to step on AFBuer's thread but I'm a spinning reel guy not a bait caster fan.
TRRANGER Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 Not to step on AFBuer's thread but I'm a spinning reel guy not a bait caster fan. TFO makes a fine spinning rod as well. $100.00. not sure what action on spinning rod I would choose but have never had an issue with there equipment. I use 8 lb line and a baitcaster thats why I use a lite action rod.
Ham Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 I've got a TFO Light spinning rod 7' that I would sell for $50.00. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish

Last time I fished a jerkbait (when I gave the report) my right hand hurt for two days. It's a carpal tunnel issue I think. Maybe. I reel left handed always. Same happens to my if I buzz bait or spinnerbait all day. I need a couple rightys for these occasions. So my point is a little lighter rod might help me a little.
