mhowerton Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 Anyone have any suggestion on floor mats (anti fatigue/non slip) for the bottom of a fiberglass trout boat (Supreme)? I was wondering if anyone has put any floor mats or flooring material in their trout boats to one cut down on the wear in high traffic area and to keep out of the water. My lab goes with me a lot and he drags in a gallon or two of water everytime he jumps in and out. I try to keep it sponged up, but often too busy fishing to keep up with it. Been fishing in knee boots over the winter to keep dry.
Ham Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 I use a quality sponge for small amounts of water and a laundry detergent bottle (the short squatty one for like 80 loads or someting) with the top cut out to bail larger amounts of water like when it rains or someone brings a Lab (Lol). I had a friend the cut rubber mats to fit between the runners on a Shawnee and hopefully Terrierman will chime in with his solution. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. sean c Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 I put a product called seadek in my jon boat I love it but it's super expensive. You can buy it in sheets cut it to shape and then it just has an adhesive back that holds it to the floor. My only concern was my lab tearing it up but so far so good. Ham 1

I was checking the seadek material out last night on their website it looks pretty sweet. I had put a material called hyrdoturf in my aluminum duck boat before but havent seen that material in any river boats yet. Thanks for the feedback
Ham Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 The link Phil provided looks very much like what my buddy put in his Shawnee and I'm certain it would work in a Supreme as well. Kcdangler 1 Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish

I put it on plywood and aluminum I'm sure it would be fine on fiberglass matter of fact I will put some on the false floors of my driftboat if the fiberglass ever starts to get slick. When you put it down I'm pretty sure it's there for life. So far it's as good as advertised had it a couple of years now.

My boat is a Shawnee commissary boat with ribs running the length of the boat in the floor. I cut 3/4" plywood to make a false floor, painted it with non-skid porch paint from Lowe's, then screwed it to the ribs. HUGE improvement as anyone who's been in that boat with me will testify. But for that to work (have a place for a little water to go) the ribs seem central. For a flat bottom boat with integral floor like Supreme, some kind of semi-open mat seems optimal. Ham 1
Ham Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 The ribs in a Shawnee would encourage me to fall in the river multiple times a year IF I tried to use it as it comes from factory. Terrierman 1 Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish

Add in a couple of bad knees and 20 years and now you know why it didn't take me long to change that up. Now I think it's a better set up than a Supreme without mats. Dry feet, dry gear, non-slip. Works for me. Ham and Greasy B 2
