Guest Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 I know people that refuse to fish the Ned because it can't be used on baitcasters & 15lb test. So the power fishers scoff at it anyway.

I just updated my spinning arsenal, but i'm not giving up on other tactics. Actually in that video, earlier in the day I was throwing the ned, and had equally if not better luck on Jerkbaits, the action was kinda slow most of the day until that sequence, bout an hour before dark they got really active, and think was in right place at right time, it was fun! There's no such thing, as a bad day fishing!
Members stoneattherock Posted January 27, 2015 Members Posted January 27, 2015 son and i have modified ned and shakey head technique..to have a little bigger presentation..seems to get rid of the bluegill grabs and small small fish as it drops...but great forum topic..we as fisherman for years spend money on pretty lures only to realize the cheaper smaller things that look like bait really do work LOL..

Members alltelracer Posted January 27, 2015 Members Posted January 27, 2015 I use the zman shroomz jig head. I haven't had to use any glue, but the hook seems a little week as I find myself bending it back after a good catch or hang up. I've started using these weedless soft plastic guards to keep from hanging up as much, but worried that they affect presentation. The jig pictured is an example of the weed guard...not my setup.

The hook on that head has not been named in any of the info I have seen on it (and I have seen a good bit). Does not strike me as being a Mustad or a Gammie.
Ham Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 Having seen the Shroom head first hand, the wire of the hook seems AWFUL thin. Great for hooksets with light line, but not so great for long life of the jighead. Planned obsolescence? Honestly, I'll go back to the Skinny Bears before that. dtrs5kprs Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 It could be a gammie 114, but why not just label it that way?

Try the zman fattyz it is a 5" version with sick action. Great on a 1/8 or 1/4 oz head with a traditional power hook or light wire. Can be cut to 4" or fished at full length, keeps the greenies off the line but the bass eat it up .
