That was the most glaring and blatant political spin, or outright lie, that I noticed too, Al. It really needs to be termed a lie, because anyone with the least bit of knowledge of CWD history in Missouri, and the most basic knowledge of how and where elk were reintroduced, knows there isn't the slightest possibility of any validity to this assumption or implication. It is the worst kind of politics that can only be perpetrated by a man who has completely sold his soul to special interests.

One would think that such a blatant lie would totally destroy this man's credibility, and it does to those the least bit informed, but the general populace is woefully uninformed and some are ready to believe that the government (MDC) would introduce CWD by bringing elk from out of state and then try to blame it on someone else, especially in rural areas like where I live. I've heard this type of logic before.

The frightening problem is this man has the power by virtue of an elected office and the podium to present such shameful misinformation to an uninformed public.

I love it the way he throws in the elk thing, asking if MDC is bringing in diseased elk, and trying to link the Macon County CWC problem with those elk without actually saying so...knowing full well that uninformed people may take that inference, and knowing full well that Peck Ranch is about 300 miles from Macon County.

This is a smear campaign filled with distortions with a few out and out lies thrown in. It sickens me.

Why would you ever need to 'farm raise' deer in missouri? My wife and I are sitting here looking at half a dozen standing in our front yard. It's just crazy..............

If the bill passes that pays $500 to every driver that hits a deer, I'm quitting my job and opening up a deer ranch and an Enterprise rent-a-car franchise. It'll be like printing money!!!

What's that 500 supposed to do, cover your deductible ?

Any decent body shop already does that.

It'd be kinda cool for those of us that only carry liability ins. Opens a door for fraud in a big way though. I have plenty of deer hair to rub on fenders and stuff.

  • You are right about that again wrench. What is next deer fences by every road I posted on another thread that there needs to be more accountability for mdc but I do not see this working. I would also like to see the mdc post what is spent in each county every year for conservation. It seems that some area get a lot more attention than others. I know that it will never be equal do to populations. but it seems that the extreme southwest cornor of the state dose not get much attention. Yes we have accesses that are not staffed as well as a out door shooting range but that is it it seems that once you get farther north they have more management areas and education programs for children. I would also like to see more patrols done. I know that Operation game theft has been called numerous time about spot lighters as well as people stopping and shooting from the road way in broad day light. In 4 years of living in the same house with a dirt road less than 100 feet away I have only seen 1 agent. that was 2 years ago. I know they were called last year about some one shooting a large buck after dark last year there was no response from a Agent only the local Sheriff. I also know the Sheriff contacted the local agent because it was my neighbor that call them he though that some one was burglarizing the house next door to him. The shooter had permission to be on the property and the Sheriff could not arrest them so they were released. I spoke with the shooter afterward and he advised me that the Mdc agent had never contacted him. This does not inspire confidence in Mdc

Well then, why not put a few bills through the "system" that go the OTHER direction ?

Where are the bills to INCREASE funds for MDC ? Seems that plenty of folks feel they need more instead of less.

.

I've seen some do that but not very many. And I would not call most of them decent. Do you knock $500 off of every repair? I know that I've been in more body shops than probably anyone here, all over the country, and that is not common practice.

Not only does it cut into their profitability it also sours their relationship with the insurance companies. And they need them to survive.
