Champ188 Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 I'm all for cutting the Zinkers or the Zeroes. Not too hep on the TRD's after looking at them in-person the other day.

They work, but I am sort of with you. They need to be tremendously better before I bother with them. I can see using them if you need to swim it, because they will float and fall differently. Other than that, I am hard pressed to put the cut stick down. Had a very similar exchange about the ShadZ and other baits with Ned recently.
troutgnat Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 My thoughts are to fish the Ned even better than last year and experiment with every color imaginable and different colors of heads. I think my Ned box is ready! Bad news is....while all you guys were whacking em last week on the Ned I got on a A-rig bite that was too much fun and I couldn't pick my Ned rod up though it was laying on the deck rigged and ready.....LOL Ham and InPiney 2 Darren Sadler "Fishing is an Education...Often the fish 'school' me, yet I do not complain. Ham Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 jigheads with the Mustad black nickle hooks do pretty well. The rust prevention strips did next to nothing to protect my skinny bear heads and the gopher heads. I'm not saying the rust prevention strips aren't worth trying, but don't expect miracles. I will not rig extra heads up before a trip jayates 1 Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
dtrs5kprs Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 On those little "quick boxes" the trick is in keeping the heads away from the baits. If you keep only heads in one row, and run baits in all the other rows, with the baits toward the bottom (assuming you stow the box with the heads oriented up) it should work. Provided you don't pre-rig. Hope that made sense. The trouble comes from the dividers letting salt and water in with the heads. If you have heads-divider-heads-baits-divider-heads, or something like it, you may have problems.
Members InPiney Posted February 11, 2015 Members Posted February 11, 2015 Slow with slack line......I had one on Saturday doing just that, didn't realize it was on until half way back to the boat.

Bass Enforcer Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 Weekend warrior. Just curious. Did you have z-man mixed in with other manufactures soft baits? If so that is a NO NO! they have some sort of chemical which causes this reaction. I learned the hard way. I didn't know why mine melted as I have never had this happen to me before, knowing they had gone through such extreme heat before. Then I read an article in my BASS magazine.perhaps this is what happen to you.
