dtrs5kprs Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 Which is better? The cut ZinkerZ or the Finesse TRD? Besides the ZinkerZ be about 12.5 cents per bait cheaper. I bought some TRD's this year, but will likely throw the cut bait more. Partly a confidence deal, partly due to what you pointed out about the pricing. Cheaper yet if you are cutting the Zero. The TRD is a little different in terms of texture and salt content. I am sure it will fish a bit differently, but despite my zip code, it is going to have to show me it is better. ***Should note the FattyZ also works, but requires more tinkering. Have never really warmed up to the Hula StickZ. Nothing wrong with it, just have not found it to be better.
WeekendWarrior Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 Do you guys take your packages of baits out of boat after fishing and store inside in temp controlled environment? Had a pack in boat and all were melted together like gummy bears last year.
dtrs5kprs Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 Mine live in the basement, or in a a/c and heated garage. So yes, I guess. Have not had problems while at the lake for extended trips. Did melt some pond hopping in an aluminum 14 footer a couple of years ago, but it was 100+ and bluebird. I melted too that day.
Champ188 Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 I can think of a lot of reasons I'd choose one bait over another, but 12.5 cents per bait is not among them. At those savings, it would take 80 baits to add up to a $10 bill, which still wouldn't buy breakfast for you and your fishing buddy anywhere that I know of except maybe McDonald's. I'm going to throw what works and what I have confidence in. Donna G 1
Guest Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 I don't mind buying the reject orange colors, they work for me. Even in super clear water
LD Fisher Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 Great information! I appreciate the technique and thought process presented. Thank you!

I usually buy at least 10 bags of a given color when I order. Combine that twelve cents with the fact zeros are about 50 cents cheaper per bag and it does add up eventually. Also a factor if someone is only going to buy a few bags to get started because you will get more usable baits by cutting them.
Guest Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 I hope they keep making the gp/orange. If they want to discontinue a color, Bama craw is a candidate. I went thru 7 bags of gp/orange last year.

Same problem exists throughout the line with that color...Turbo Crawz, FattyZ, etc. Not much of a Bama Craw fan either. When the GP/orange is off, it is hard to tell them apart.
