Guest Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 Yep. It is the texture and salt content. Supposedly the TRD is actually made of a sightly different formulation of elaztech, to make it fish the way it does. Just waiting to find out if it is better than the Zinkerz. Know it is different. Lord help us if it is better...will be a lot of sore elbows and wrists. It should come with a warning label & a rebate for bio-freeze

Quillback Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 can't judge a book by it's cover dude once people are willing to try the TRD, they will find out why it's called "the real deal" with the help of a friend we made an underwater lake video fishing the zinker z and the trd on a jig head, they are different as day and night. Not only does the TRD shine on a finesse jig head, I've figured out 5 diff. ways to rig one and catch fish on it.. Is this video available for public viewing? Ya'll have got me thinking that it may be time to try the TRD fished wacky. I think it may have worked yesterday as some of the fish were hitting the Ned on the sink. Just don't have any TRD's on hand. Guess it's time to order from my buddies at TW. (Sigh).

(Sigh). idk if he even has it anymore, neither of us have a youtube account or upload videos I used to have a youtube account , had 15 Bull Shoals fishing videos on it then one day it was gone p.s. don't let your "friends" know your password!
Ham Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 I'm going with two boxes for ned - one with just heads, scissors and glue and one with the plastics. I like to leave the plastics in the store packaging in the box until I actually make up the jig. I'm just about there. I will precut, but I'm going to have to go second box soon. Same boat here. Think on the little head, 1/32 not 1/16, it could be very good around bed fish or docks. Texture is more like the shadz or finesse worm, will fall slower. Fine differences aside, a large reason for the TRD is angler accessibility and marketing. There really are some guys who just don't want to use scissors. Hard to believe.

There really are some guys who just don't want to use scissors. Hard to believe. texture and inconsistency are issues I run into with some of the zman plastics, especially the TRD's. I do 100% of my zman ordering online because nobody I know of within 50 miles of me carries zman. I had to buy every color to find what I was looking for texture wise. Why one color TRD had 3x as much salt than another color needs to be addressed at the factory some colors are just right, others have more salt than plastic it seems, and the rest have hardly any saltiness
Quillback Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 I've noticed that, Dirt seems to be very salty, PB&J not so much. Or it could be inconsistencies when they run them.

Think it is more batch to batch, than color specific. Also seems to be specific to Zman and not so much the Zero. Same material, but it could be that SK ordered a different formulation. Have always thought the Zero was a bit softer. It happens in traditional salted plastics as well, as salt settles and gets injected later in a run. Thus all the paddles, etc., that are used to keep the hot plastic mixed. Also why it is tricky to hand pour with salt in the plastic. olbasser 1
dtrs5kprs Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 Ned sent out the percentage of salt that is in each bait a few years ago. Will see if I can locate it and post it for comparison.
