Guest Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 I won a couple screw tail Long A's off eBay tonight. I'm going to repaint them & see if the will work.
Guest Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 Rapala BX Wake minnow is a good looking profile but the colors aren't very appealing. Quill, which color did you like?

You can just scrape some of those bombers down to bone white. Popped for one of the BX Wake Minnows but did not get a chance to throw it. Closest they had to a shad color at TW. Yankee colors, in my opinion. A straight pearl or smokey joe would have been fine.
Guest Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 The old G finish shad that cotton Cordell produced in the 90's is one of my all time favorites. Do you know the recipe to duplicate G-finish?
Quillback Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 Rapala BX Wake minnow is a good looking profile but the colors aren't very appealing. Quill, which color did you like? I like the Smelt, light colored on the bottom. I like the looks of the Blue Back Herring, but don't have one. Color selection not that great as Dave said. Darn Yankees!
Quillback Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 I like the looks of these things, except for the price. http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Spro_BBZ-1_Rat/descpage-SBBZR.html#multiview
Ham Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 $30'if it really worked wouldn't be too bad. You can apparently buy as much as you want for lures. Several multi hundred dollar lures on the market now. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
Quillback Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 That is the big question - do they work? It looks like it should.
Members littlejasper Posted February 14, 2015 Members Posted February 14, 2015 Okay, here it is and you can thank me later. Refer to Dtrs5's post above and do exactly that. The only difference, and the most significant is this. Instead of adding weights with suspend spots, do the following. Find the old Mojo sinkers. Long skinny ones if you don't know. Drill a hole in the middle of the back section. I am sure it is a 5/16" , but do a trial on a piece of wood. Line drilled hole with epoxy. White marine works best. Insert the Mojo into the hole. Might go in about 1/4". Cut remainder off with hacksaw blade. File excess off and reseal entire drilled area with epoxy. Little work here, but once done its done. Weight will keep nose up. Good luck.
