rps Posted July 27, 2017 Posted July 27, 2017 I checked the refrigerator this morning before I went to my fasting blood draw at 7:30 AM. More on the draw later. I had the stub of the pork tenderloin from earlier this week. After the lab, I went to the farmers market. More on the lab later. At the farmers market I bought new waxy potatoes, good tomatoes, and fresh green beans. I diced the potatoes and some onion, garlic, and carrots as well as the pork. I put all to marinade in olive oil. salt, and pepper. I also blanched the green beans. In addition, I poached two eggs. I diced some of the tomatoes and added olive oil, sherry wine vinegar, and herbs with salt and pepper. We are headed to baked hash topped with a poached egg and sriracha and a salad of green beans with tomato marinade dressing. About the lab and draw -> First, to put this in perspective, I am a multiple gallon blood donor. Needles do not bother me. However, the doctor has me on diuretic medication for hypertension (which is under control ), and they told me to have nothing but water after 9:00 PM the night before when I am accustomed to a tea during my mid night wakeup. So I go to the lab for the draw and my mature gentleman veins are in a rolling and squirrely mood. The very nice man spent several minutes chasing veins in my arm before he gave up and decided to strike gold on the top of my hand. That did not work out. He called in the pro from Dover. She too chased a vein all over the top of my hand. I will say she was determined and forceful. I did a good job not flinching and being a man. The pair gave up on that hand and decided to try the other arm. As soon as they attacked the third point, I checked out. The last time I did that was in the middle of vasectomy I had using only a local. I had to go to court later that day and could not afford to be stupid from anesthetic. Something about being cauterized and smelling it did me in. So I woke up with three people looking concerned about the old man. Sadly, the third person was a former student who now works a the clinic. I gathered my tattered dignity and fled. tho1mas 1
Johnsfolly Posted July 27, 2017 Posted July 27, 2017 RPS Sounds like a bad time. Sorry to hear about the lab trials. I am no longer a bachelor which meams that I did not have to cook tonight. My betterhalf and oldest daughter picked up tuna steaks, zucchini, summer squash, and a mix of fingerling potatoes. Tuna was encrusted with panko, roasted pine nuts and sesame seeds that were chopped, S&P and mixed with the panko. ness, rps, MOPanfisher and 1 other 4

MOPanfisher Posted July 27, 2017 Posted July 27, 2017 RPS, I feel for you on the blood draws. I will think about it tomorrow when I am in the chair to gI've them some blood. Usually I am an easy stick they say. I enjoys watching them work. Some work by feel and some by sight, however when I mention they are like hunting dogs that way, hey don't see the humor as much as I do. rps 1

rps Posted July 29, 2017 Posted July 29, 2017 Hello all. I rubbed a sirloin roast and roasted it to 119 degrees internal. I seared it in a 500 degree oven for service. My komodo is out of service due to the remodel/repair work on my house and deck. I made noodles with bacon, onion, and mushroom for the side dish. I chopped farmers market cucumber, tomatoes, onion, and radish for the salad to be dressed. BilletHead, Johnsfolly, snagged in outlet 3 and 2 others 5
Johnsfolly Posted July 30, 2017 Posted July 30, 2017 Tonight was chicken thighs that I made into a chicken korma. Served it over jasmine infused basmati rice. Side was curried japanese eggplant with onion and minced garlic. rps, BilletHead and ness 3
