Nothing special cooking but who we cooked for sure was. Mom's 94th birthday. She is in assisted living suffering from dementia.  It's like a broken record visiting with her. Long term memory is starting to fail some, but she cannot remember short term stuff.  We had to get permission to do this in building and was told to remove the hotplate. She has a small place with microwave, fridge, sink and place for coffee pot. She uses nothing there except the fridge to store some stuff she forgets is in there. Bless her heart. She says the food is not good there but always eats, not much but she eats. She can remember fishing and eating channel cat and likes it. sometimes my sisters bring in food to her and orders from a local place. When she did get out, we took her there. I would about gag smelling it when it hit the table it reminded me of a sewer smell. Stinkola I say.  A few weeks back I had been catching channels on an irrigation lake stripping back woolly buggers on the fly rod. I kept six and filled them out trimming them up any red and any yellow. We took a package of three so six fillets a deep skillet and hot plate. Pat made slaw and baked beans. Told mom on phone we were bring lunch. This way she would not invite her friends to eat. We can only wrangle one old lady at a time. So, it was a big surprise and worked out well. She ate well and it tasted really good. One of the girls working there stuck her nose in the door and said the smell ran up the hall to the front where all the other little old men and ladies were eating in the cafeteria. Saying how good it smelled and they wanted fish. 😁  Good day happy birthday mom and thanks for raising me!

Marty, you're a right good feller.  Your mom is grateful.  I thank her for raising you too.

  Think I will contribute today,

Going to start with a new to us cooking vessel. A Griswold #7 slant Dutch oven. Neat little thing compared to the #8. The slant logo is circa 1910. The lid is the straight logo circa 1920 to 1950. Not sure why the mismatch but not bothered by that it's a nice set-in perfect shape. image000004.jpgimage000006.jpgimage000005.jpg

Ok back to the meal. Going to fry some of the bluegill fillets we caught on the fly.

While that was going on we has Trager fries going and they will be eaten with chipotle ketchup.

Such a nice day all was cooked outside. image000003.jpg

Tomatoes from the garden rounded things off.

Those look like some big bluegill fillets?

I fried up some small bass fillets last night along with some big red shrimp, also. Had tomatoes from my garden, cottage cheese and sweet sour cucumbers.

The small bass were caught during a tournament on pomme, and would not have made it or did not make it. Because the idiots live wells was not working.

You did not say where you caught those bluegills.?

I catch my bluegills that size out of a small lake community my son lives in, around House Springs, MO.

Caught about 35 big ones about a month and half ago, along with 9 15 to 16'' crappie and will fry them up for 8 of us in September.
