I am about the last person anyone would expect to talk a vegetarian sandwich but, two slices of white bread with butter, 2-4 fresh green onions from the garden washed and peeled, and a few radish slices will make a vegetarian sammich that is pretty dang good, won't gain you many points for a kiss from sweetie but good just the same.

At our house we leave out the onion and have just radish/butter sandwiches. My wife and kids likes to smash down the bread before eat one. Trying to lose weight, so I don't eat these anymore.

Dan I was going to suggest a couple slices of bacon.  When the summer bounty is rolling in I can ALMOST be a vegetarian. Almost every vegetarian meal can be improved with bacon.  sorry  I have bacon on my brain, have a skillet full going right now to go with pancakes in a breakfast for supper thing..  bisquick, coca cola, cinnamon and some vanilla extract.  Just might even be a few fresh strawberries to put on top, if not there is a tub of strawberry freezer jam thawed and ready for duty.

Now you are just being mean with the bacon and breakfast for dinner discussion:P.

Fair enough. Some things that trend are really not universally loved. Ramps are an example.

Tonight I am prepared to make a stir fry. I have pork strips marinating in a blend of soy, mirin, rice vinegar, fish sauce, and Thai spices. (Penzy's Bangkok Blend) I have cabbage, sugar snaps, shiitake mushroom, and baby corn waiting as well. I will use sesame oil while I prepare the rice. This promises to be tasty.

Haven't tried ramps. Never seen them anywhere either.

Another example of odd greens, and one I wish I could find, is fiddle head ferns.

     Still eating here in BilletHeadVille,

Just have not tried much new. I did try grilling lettuce though and was very happy with the results. Used a head of the ruby glow we grew. Split it lengthwise, olive oil and salt and pepper. Got the gas grill smoking hot and pitched them on. A few minutes on each side. Drizzled with balsamic vinegar and proceeded to chow down. Great! Even the bitter core was good to eat. Warm but still crunchy. This was my lunch one day. Did a couple more for dinner last night for the Mrs. and I. Mrs. BilletHead approved :).
