vernon Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 Hahaha. I love those stupid Hitler spoofs. They never get old to me. Surprised I've never seen that one before and it was 100% accurate in every way about MU Basketball. "It's OK, Gretel. Who could resist that hair?" CLASSIC! lol. How did I ever miss that one?!?! Outstanding! As a Jayhawk, believe me that it's a helluva lot easier to fix a basketball program than one in football (so we have that working for us which is nice.) Two or three St.Louis studs and you're relevant again. Try recovering from Turner Gill and Charlie Weiss if you want a challenge. At the very least, Kim Anderson makes it much harder to revel in MU's woes. I still think they need to give him some time. Recruiting solves everything. Plus the SEC blows in hoops almost as bad as the East in football. (Sorry, couldn't help myself). Now, somebody find this guy a fishin' pole! "Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups." George Carlin "The only money ever wasted is money never spent." Me.

Bite your tongue you blue and crimson rat with wings! lol. While SEC East is certainly weaker than it's western brethren, the East is still very very solid. UGA, MIZZOU, South Carolina and Tennessee are all very good football programs. Kentucky made strides last year and is no longer a complete laughing stock in football. FLA is stuck in a rut right now but at any time they could have a great recruiting class and jump right back into a top 25 or even top 10 in the nation program. I think Arkansas and Tennessee both are going to shock some people next year with how much they have improved. We saw glimpses from Champs hawgs the 2nd half of last season that they were a force not to be taken lightly (back to back shutouts of LSU and Ole Miss). Would love to see them mix things up in the best division/conference in NCAA that is the SEC West. Mark my words that Tennessee is going to be much much better next season and wouldn't surprise me at all if they were a top 25 or better team next year. By the way SEC East was 5-0 in their bowl games last season.
Champ188 Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 By the way SEC East was 5-0 in their bowl games last season. East can't be THAT weak if five teams were bowl eligible, not to mention that all five won.
vernon Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 East can't be THAT weak if five teams were bowl eligible, not to mention that all five won. I dunno, I'm pretty sure that nowadays, Kansas is the ONLY Division I program in the country that DOESN't get invited to a bowl game!! I'm sorry but .500 teams and even teams that are one or two games over .500 ain't got no business being in a bowl game. Almost as bad as the NCAA basketball tournament anymore. But that's OK. I agree that a Hawk ain't got no business arguin' football with anybody so I will sulk slowly away from the discussion! "Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups." WAY to many bowl games with mediocre teams in them but with the sponsorship and advertising dollars involved with them they aren't going anywhere. As usual...follow the money.
garyw Posted February 18, 2015 Author Posted February 18, 2015 forget the fishing pole, i'm getting a bag of popcorn. lol. got the info i needed anyway. thanks
garyw Posted February 20, 2015 Author Posted February 20, 2015 stopped by my local tackle shop, http://www.bullseyebaitandtackle.com/ and decided to go with the TS1HMB. smoothest reel i've ever held(thanks champ188). as for the rod, looking at about 90 to $120. only one rod for spinner bait and jerk bait. thanks again. P.S. really enjoy the basketball banter. good to see friendly rivalry.
abkeenan Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 Gary, In that price range might take a look at these rods. I think Champ or someone else might have suggested the Compre and this rod is meant for spinnerbaits but I think would also double nicely for your jerkbaits. Might look around and find them cheaper because I believe Shimano is in the process of updating all of their models and going back to all cork, standard reel seats and screw lock mechanisms (so not the up-locking screw seat as in the model below) and lastly phasing out all the models that still carry the lifetime warranty. They are going to a 1 year warranty on all their rods I believe (even TOP end models) and there is NO MORE over the counter dealer exchange program. I am getting away from Shimano rods for that reason but I do like them. Shimano Compre Reaction Casting Rod 6'10" Med Hvy Taper Line Wt. Lure Wt. Guides Handle Type Handle Length Price Stock Qty Fast 8-17lb 3/8-1/2oz 9+Tip Compre Reaction BClick to View 13" $109.99 3 Spinnerbait
Champ188 Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 Good suggestion, abk. The only problem with those Compre rods is they tend to break after a while about a foot down from the tip. That was no issue to me when they were swapping them out over the counter, no questions asked. Now that they're phasing that program out, I might be a little leary of buying one. Gary, I might also suggest that you consider the Falcon BuCoo, specifically their 6-10 MH/Fast, model number BCC-5-1610. Should work very well for what you're wanting to do. Duckett Fishing has a new Ghost series of rods that would fit right into your price range, too. I absolutely love their Micro Magic rods and own 5 or 6 of them but the Ghost series is pretty new, so I can't speak to their durability, etc. You'll find the right rod. Glad you like the Lew's reel. You made a good choice.
abkeenan Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 I have a Duckett Ghost and really like it. Another board a guy posted a link of Duckett Macro Magic's for $100 shipped to your door. I have no experience ordering from them but that is a heck of a deal for that rod. http://stores.sheltonsclothing.com/boyd-duckett-fishing-macro-magic-fishing-rod/
