laker67 Posted February 19, 2015 Posted February 19, 2015 The trout parks do not provide the potential of catching a state record brown trout or in some cases even a small brown trout. So I have to go with Taneycomo as the better option. Due to the distance from my house I do fish the trout parks frequently, but dream about Taneycomo. If my memory serves me correctly, montauk did produce a state record brown trout, but that was way back ten pounds ago.

I know and that is where the trick can come in with generation. You never know what they will do with flows. That's the only reason I mentioned the boat option. Regardless of whether its Taney or a trout park, boat or wading, I just enjoy trout fishing wherever it is. laker67 1

oneshot Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 Ok when I was young I would fish Tanneycomo every weekend. This was back when there was around 300 people living in Branson. Liked eating the Trout from there with the Red Meat. We live next to the Niangua River and was catching Trout out of there, most part not Fresh Stockers. Enjoyed eating them. Me and my wife went to Branson. I caught nice Trout with the nice Red meat I remembered. Cooked them up told my wife she was in for a treat. This is the truth. We was eating, we looked at each other at the same time, neither of us could tell the difference in taste. At that time couldn't see just driving 80 miles for the same thing I catch out of the river. But if I'm down there still go fishing. oneshot

I love trout fishing from my jet boat down on Taney. I'm 40 minutes from Meramec Springs so fish it the most, but ot doesn't hold a candle to Taney!

trythisonemv Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 Roaring river holds rainbow record right? Like 16lbs I believe. I am inclined to agree that taney is great but for convenience purposes the trout parks win. Or for that much the white ribbon areas. Both are a joy and I try my best to balance my visits but Capps and rr and crane creek are so close to me I don't hit taney as much as I'd like.

One at 16.75 and the current record at 18lb 1oz. Taney had a fish last summer from one of phils clients at 17lb 8oz. And this was not the so called trout zilla fraud out of oklahoma.
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted February 20, 2015 Root Admin Posted February 20, 2015 I don't recall that.
