ScottK Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 ? Looks like rubber legs to me. I normally use spinnerbait skirts from the tackle shop(for the larger flies anyway) instead of buying the ones marketed for fly tying.
Flysmallie Posted March 29, 2015 Author Posted March 29, 2015 You are right Scott. I read legs as tails for some reason. Yeah any "skirt" material will work. And the stuff marketed for jigs and spinnerbaits has a bigger range of colors.
Big Brown Trout Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015 does this tend to foul when you cast it? Let the summer of Carp, begin.
Flysmallie Posted March 30, 2015 Author Posted March 30, 2015 does this tend to foul when you cast it? Nope. Occasionally after a fish you have to straighten out the tail a bit but that's it.
Members ChiaPet Posted January 17, 2016 Members Posted January 17, 2016 I want to tie this fly. Can I get a complete list of materials? Is olive the best color? I fish the Castor, Jacks Fork, Black, and 11point.

Flysmallie Posted January 27, 2016 Author Posted January 27, 2016 I like it. I like the way the tail is splayed out. I keep them together coming strait out the back. Pretty simple tie except for having to wrestle those legs. Nice job. ChiaPet 1

Every fish I catch on a fly rod are on my own flies. I've tied my own flies since I was 10 years old or earlier. I need to appreciate it more. Thanks! Flysmallie and marcus 2
