Friday is deadline for DHS funding, will they do the same thing as last time? Close the gates or add road blocks at the entrances, because they can. Funding issues seem to do that even thou its stupid. Last time pretty new signs were posted the day after, coincidence or as planned.

i think last time there was a complete government shut down. but, we just went in anyway. we the people still actually own the lakes and ramps, as it is with our tax dollars that built them to begin with. the government is actually just nothing more than an employee of the tax payers. we the taxpayers need to start doing a much better job of hiring and firing.

I agree also. I would like to fire the whole D@!; bunch and put the working man/woman in there. The people need to get out and vote.

I'm with ya, Grumpy, but the RIGHT people need to get out and vote. The last two presidential elections are shining examples of how you can draw the previously untapped votes of the uneducated masses with free toys (cellphones) and more money for sitting on their lazy a$$es (funded by the working folks, of course).

You good folks are right. As I have said before I'm 90 and I'm very sad about how things are going in my country. If we don't get out and vote I think I will never see a change.

I fear that a liberal progressive, special interest, big govt. minority voting block has been compiled that can win nearly any election. Traditional media supports the notion of big govt.

When the 60s radicals lost in their efforts to create chaneg through their revolutionary tactics, they went underground and started brainwashing our youth through the education system. Many adults educated since the 70s actually believe in this secular one world order nonsense.

When you combine that problem with a biased press and lack of term limits in congress, we have a real mess on our hands that may require some dire global risks to begin turning it around

Personally, I'm afraid "dire global risks" are right around the corner. These ISIS guys and their counterparts are beginning to make the Nazi's look like kindergarteners. I mean no disrespect to the tortured and murdered victims of the Holocaust. But mass beheadings, burning humans alive and kidnapping 1-9 year old girls to sell on the sex slave market is pretty hard to fathom. Meanwhile, our "leadership" refuses to even acknowledge it's happening. Without the total support and efforts of the US military, the entire world will eventually be at the mercy of these evil doers.

Sorry, rant over.

What "progressives" have done since LBJ has been politically brilliant. I don't often agree with "progressive" ideals but "conservatives" are way behind in their political strategy.

IMHO this "progressive" movement is a train going downhill, even if a "conservative" gets elected President at best they can apply the brakes a bit but there is no stopping it.

The Corps of Engineers was funded in the Omnibus Budget passed last year - they are not in the Department of Homeland Security, so a shutdown of that department shouldn't affect the Corps ramps.
