Quillback Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 Looks similar to a Shad-Rap, except a bit heavier and runs a bit deeper (according to their depth chart). Looks like it has possibilities. However, a bit overpriced in my opinion. http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Bagley_Balsa_Shad_Crankbait/descpage-BAGBSD.html#multiview
5bites Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 Needs more craw pattern. Still a cool bait I bet. Like oking at the shape of the bill I bet it's a little livelier that a sr.
Quillback Posted March 3, 2015 Author Posted March 3, 2015 Yes would be nice if they had some craw patterns.
Champ188 Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 Looks a bit like the old Cordell Wally Diver, which was a pretty good crank plug for bass. Smallieguy87 1
Smallieguy87 Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 looks good. I'm a big fan of bandit especially the 200 and 300 series cranks. Donna G 1

Ahhh...the Wally Diver, in Super Shad and Red/Black Stripe. I actually have one in Super Shad in my kitchen cupboards (don't ask). At a guess, the new SK shad will throw better, which is not everything. Hard to beat a Shad Rap on a spinning rod in cold, cold water. That was actually my bet for the Classic.

Lots of guys like that Shad Rap in cold water on spinning gear. I've never tried it but I did watch a Mark Menendez youtube video of him doing just that a few months ago. I'll see if I can find it.
abkeenan Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 Found it. Looks like he was using a Lucky Shad and not a Rapala Shad Rap but they are nearly identical. Champ188 and Quillback 2
dtrs5kprs Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 Interested to see how similar that bait is to a Shad Rap. The old Shad Rap can almost be pulled like a spoonbill rogue. Pretty subtle action. Also wonder how many guys have fallen out of the boat with the current trend of laying down to land fish. There has to be a better way (like maybe a rubber net). fishingaddiction and Champ188 2
Smithvillesteve Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 Thanks Abeekan for posting this video. Good stuff. I wish he would have told us exactly what the water temps were. And he was fishing the late fall into winter v winter into early spring. Buddy of mine and I are coming down this weekend. I'll definitely give a shad rap a try after watching this video. I'm anticipating high 30's into low 40's water temps. But like a lot of you guys on here i am dealing with big time cabin fever!! My friend and I would also like to fish the OAF tournament on March 14th. Not 100% sure of this however.
