Anyone replaced the pull rope on your trolling motor? Those dang things arent easy to get the old rope off. It broke where it ties inside the release cable. The Mrs. just left to get a new rope/cord so i hope going together is easier.

After messing up the prop yesterday, and motor not running tops, and maybe going into shop, She just grinned at me when i mentioned, that in order for us to catch more, and larger fish, that we need to update our trolling motor, and in return, the boat would fish better in the wind, get us closer to hung up lines, and troll across the cove faster. Not sure those lines will work, but it was worth a try. May just have a new one on for saturday.

It was easier on my Minn Kota then it was on a Motor Guide I used to own. I switched to the metal cable aftermarket kit to avoid these issues in the future.

Well

I replaced a couple of each brand. Then many for friends. The replacement on the Motorguide has been on since 2003..... Bull Tape that they use to pull wire-fiber-optic through tubes. Not sure what size you need..... will give to you free if you want to try. Will likely be in Springfield Friday afternoon could meet up. I am just outside NW Republic. Can post a pic in the am if you like.

A good pair of long hemostats, a few cold beers, and choice swear words usually does the trick. Be sure to replace with cable or genuine trolling motor rope or you will be back soon.

Thanks guys,

All they had at WallyWorld was a weedeater pull cord. I got it all back together, and it actually works.

This is a MotorGuide, with no cutout channel on the bottom end to make it easier. I had a Minnkota on my Stratos, that had a cutout channel on the bottom that made changing it a 2 minute job. This one, with zero room in there, took about 20 minutes start to finish.

Thanks for the offer Griz. If your not going to use it, im more than willing to pay ya for it. Im not working tomorrow, so i can meet ya anywhere. Im on the S/W Springfield area, not far from Kansas and James River area.

if going to keep that trolling motor i would upgrade to one of the stainless cables, or get some heat shrink tubing and cover the pull rope with it.
