rps Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 I just put the first epoxy coat on the new Ned Rig casting rod. I will fish before I second coat, just in case I want to move guides. I am excited as I think it will work beautifully. Today, I also received my package from dtrs5kprs. I have a fisful of 1/16th and 1/8th heads to fish on that new rod. My Spring Break from school starts a week from tomorrow. I will fish 4 or 5 days of that break then drag the boat in for its annual maintenance and then I install the new sonar. I'm not going to be able to sleep this week! Sac River Jim 1
dtrs5kprs Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 Like a kid at Christmas! Is that the casting rod? I just wrapped a medium 7' casting rod for shakey heads last night.
Quillback Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 Excellent! I hope you have a great week of fishing. You'll have to show me that rod at the derby. Lakedog 1
willyfish Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 Everybody has the bug, I wonder why!! My order is coming dtrs5kprs. The brackets come on Sunday, Cardinals are getting the bats ready, and the fish are on the move. Priceless

Although many will say a Ned Rig rod is not the best weapon for a big bass gathering, I will use it as one of my three rigged rods. I plan to fish the heavy stick with twin spins and jigs, the crankbait stick with a wart or a rockcrawler, and the new stick with a Ned or grub.

That is a big bass bait. It's not that the little guy doesn't catch big fish, it just catches enough other fish in between big bites to make things interesting.

I took the skirts off two PBJ War Eagle twin spins and tied on a blend of brown/green/orange/yellow/black deer hair. I have modified Uncle Josh crawdad rinds to attach. I will spray them with attractant and I will drag them just above the bottom on transition banks. I don't know of any other way to tempt the big mommas better. Sac River Jim 1

Sac River Jim Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 i put my spinner bait box back in the boat too. i'll be interested to see how much it rains and what the water temp ends up to be. ive got cold water and pre spawn baits rigged up. i'm thinking when they make the move its going to be a very fast move.
