rFisherk Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 Conservation Day at the Capitol (I posed the initial announcement elsewhere) is April 2, a Thursday. It had to be Thursday to ensure that legislators would be around to see it. Following is the list of groups so far that will be represented: 1. CFM 2. Hunting Works for Missouri 3. Katy Land Trust 4. Missouri Bird Conservation Initiative 5. Missouri Chapter Wildlife Society 6. Missouri Coalition for the Environment 7. Missouri Delta Waterfowl 8. Missouri Ducks Unlimited 9. msamatt Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 Dan Kreher from the Missouri Smallmouth Alliance will be there. Matt Wier http://missourismallmouthalliance.blogspot.com The Missouri Smallmouth Alliance: Recreation, Education, and Conservation since 1992
Dan Kreher Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 While I am a bit confused as to the apparent tone of Ron's comment regarding MO Smallmouth Alliance as posted above, Matt Wier and I both will be manning the MSA booth at Conservation Day at the Capitol and taking time off work to do so. I am not aware of any other organized angling group in Missouri that is focused on protecting and improving our state's smallmouth bass fisheries. We are an all-volunteer organization and have spent thousands of hours of our own time and money over the past 23 years supporting this cause so dear to many who frequent the Ozark Anglers website. In fact MSA volunteers from across the state will be out posting smallmouth bass conservation signs at over 150 MDC stream accesses once again starting this weekend. Many who frequent Ozark Anglers have pitched in on this effort over the past few years which is greatly appreciated. So if folks could refrain from taking pot shots at our group on a message board, that would be appreciated. I would have responded sooner but I was out of town last week.
rFisherk Posted March 25, 2015 Author Posted March 25, 2015 I guess you finally cleared it with Lenny.
Greasy B Posted March 25, 2015 Posted March 25, 2015 Dan Kreher from the Missouri Smallmouth Alliance will be there. ness Posted March 25, 2015 Posted March 25, 2015 Matt and Dan -- lots of folks, myself included, appreciate what you're doing. I've been involved with enough volunteer organizations to know that it always turns out to be more work that you expect, and there's never enough time, money or manpower to do everything that needs to be done. I also know success always comes down to the dedication and work of just a few folks. Usually the only thing there is an abundance of is people with ideas for more things to do, or how do things better-- but when it's time to roll up the sleeves and get to it, they become a lot more scarce. So keep up the good work and let us know when you've got a need. Daryk Campbell Sr and bs1827 2 John
Dan Kreher Posted March 25, 2015 Posted March 25, 2015 Thanks for your support. We are far from perfect as an organization but we can only be as effective as those volunteering to pitch in on various projects and initiatives. Please continue to work in whatever way you can to promote smallmouth bass conservation efforts that improve and protect our beloved Ozark streams. We'll be sure to reach out to OA members when assistance in our own efforts is necessary. Smallieguy87 and ness 2

I am signing up to post signs this weekend as volunteers are needed as it is a wide ranging project that can be a logistical nightmare. I never have understood the quasi resentment for the MSA by some who seem to be fans of river fishing for smallmouth bass and it pisses me off to be honest with you....I am not a nice guy like virtually all of the MSA members I have met.....if you mess with my passions I will come out swinging every time no doubt. For any of you to question the MSA and it's work ethics as they pertain to the preservation of Smallmouth bass you are out of line and I have no respect for you what so ever. Better yet what the hell have you done out of your free time to make a stand for something you care about?? frigging pisses me off!!!! Smallieguy87 1

The dedication these men and women show is commendable. what they do is a benefit to anyone who enjoys fishing for smallmouth regardless if they are members of MSA or not, The fact that they get together for stream clean ups, angler education etc And all of this coming out of their time and money (As smalliebigs has already covered) When you consider that is a group of volunteers and the factors that come along with that i'd say they've done a lot of good and have had a very positive influence. ness 1
