Alright table rock experts, I have just bought my first graph, a hds 9. I am going to mount this up front at the trolling motor on my ranger. What mount suggestions do you guys have? I was thinking i wanted one with a little longer arm so I didn't have to bend all the way over to touch the screen. Any advice is more than welcome.

I have a 1.5" ram up front and a 2.25" at the wheel both holding humminbird 999's. The 1.5" is sufficient but you do have to tighten it up more and it may move more also depending on how it's mounted. Mine won't move but I'd need to get a pic to explain why. Basically it's braced against my trolling motor pedal tray. I will get pics if you want them. The 1.5" runs around $55

The 2.25" is solid as can be. If your graph will be in the open with nothing to brace the ram mount arm like my front graph is then the big 2.25" May be the way to go but you have to pay more at around $110.

Here is another option that looks very solid and a compromise on price between the two.

Get the bigger one. Mine is mounted in the middle just in front of my foot control. I had the smaller and it dropped down in rough water. The bigger one stays put. Once you get used to the T9 you won't need to touch it very often. Are you putting a lss ducer on the Tmotor?

Whatever you buy, I wouldn't make a decision based on price. I doubt that was your criteria for picking your graph, so you'll certainly want good hardware keeping it from getting beat to death or flying out of the boat.

That hds-9 is awesome graph for up front(or anywhere for that matter!). Definitely get the longest arm possible to bring it up closer.

And when people mention the 1.5" or 2.25", those are the diameter of the ballmount. Not the length. The lengths vary on each diameter ram mount options. But, Defintely get the larger ballmount for a better grip on the larger electronics. The smaller diameter won't hold as tight.

I only have a 5" Lowrance screen on my bow; but bought the longest ram mount available. It wasn't cheap but has been rock solid for years. From base to base it's almost 12" long. Which doesn't sound like much; but it makes a heckuva difference in visibility; and I don't have to bend over nearly as far to toggle screens; or even adjust the angle. And that's why I like the ram mount too; the ballmount allows infinite angle adjustments. It's super helpful when the sun can be at a funny angle when fishing; and a slight shift of the graph is all that's need to eliminate the glare.........sorry; but I don't recall the model #.

I just bought the 2.25 ram mounts I bought the short for the top rail at my console and the long for the front deck. I currently have a 998c on the back but it will be replaced with another 1100 series bird next week.the smaller ram mounts I replace handled my 898's just fine but no way would I use them with the 1100 series birds. Word of advice learned the hard way, I don't suggest mounting the front deck ram in front of your control panel. I was running two and a half foot rollers on Stockton a month ago and we had the mount tilted forward and the graph pointing up. Anyhows the graph vibrated down and pushed the trolling motor cable against the up position on the trim switch. It got kinda hairy for a few seconds.I had to shut the boat down going 30mph to a dead stop. I didn't take on any water over the bow but its a miracle I didn't. I mounted the 1158c off in the right corner completely out of the way.I like it there better anyhows.
