First trip ever to table rock fishing out of Big Cedar lodge

I come down every spring, normally about the same time you will be down. Sometimes it is a shad bite, sometimes it crawfish bite, rarely are both really good. Your first task is to figure that out. Once you figure this out look to the suggestions in this forum. This has always suited me the best. My experience is that the Rock is harder than most lakes, however if you take your time with your presentation you will get bit. With this rain you may not find clear water, if you do go with lighter line, Flourocarbon is a must.

All that said, the Rock is the most beautiful body of water I have ever fished. I always enjoy the time on it, whether I catch a bunch or not. I am sure you will have a great time.

So has any of your advice changed with the high water? I will be fishing next week Tue wed and thrs. I have a couple rock crawlers now. Need rig, wiggle warts, rock crawlers, 4 inch grubs, drop shot,shaky head and what else do you suggest? I prefer to fish less than 15 feet of water if possible. I will not have great electronics on a rental. Rock crawlers and ned rig seems to be all I am reading about.

I have put fluro on all my rigs except my flipping stick and a couple mono for my son. 6 lb on most and a couple 10 lb for crankbaits and jigs

If I get some wind will I be able to get bit with jerk baits and spinner baits? Or stick to wart and rock crawlers?

For sure. Wind helps with ANY BAIT on Table Rock (except baits where you need the feel). Moving baits like cranks, spinners or jerkbaits shine with wind or chop on the water.

it is going to be warm here all week with a chance of some showers mid week so water temps should continue to rise and i bet the wiggle wart bite should be on. Just because the water temps will be pushing mid to upper 50's dont be afraid to throw a jerker. i like spro blue in the sun and table rock shad in low light in the spro mc sticks. i think youve done a great job preparing for your trip. this time of year i like to have a couple spro little john md's in my arsenal. i like the nasty shad and fire craw colors. good luck on your up coming trip and whack em good!!!!!!

So is the spro little john similar to a dt 10 type mid range crank bait? I have a ton of square bills which are great up here in Michigan in the spring. Will there be a shot at using the square bill around trees? or stick to more deep diving stuff?

I would have been lost without this forum. I will post each day how I do. Not sure I have figured out pictures yet. That might have to wait until I get back from the trip. But I will be posting updates as I walk off the dock. I always post on my home forum reports so I can go back and use them as data for future trips.

Little John is shallower, and flat sided. It's a Spro crank. Square bill might work along a steep swing, or in front of bushes in pockets. Would not be the first thing I picked up, but it does work.

Don't be afraid to basically "slow roll" the smoke grub or swimbait in wind too. That was sort of contradictory to me when I learned about it, but it is the real deal. just about like throwing a blade.

Having covered that it will probably be 70 degrees and flat calm. This lake has that sense of humor.

I get it. I am just trying to Over prepare. At this point I will probably forget to bring clothes. Hope the wife packs something for me. I am already pretty easy to spot being 6'3 a former linebacker who now looks like a lineman, with redish hair and a goatee.
